Having enjoyed a successful 2024 Magic Millions with 12 sales including the promising $250,000 colt Nordic Viking (So You Think {NZ}) who has been trialling well for the John Sargent Stable, Riversdale have another big sale ahead. We had a look at 10 of their draft highlights.
Lot 90 - Brazen Beau x We Can Dance (Shinzig) (bay filly)
Bred on the highly successful I Am Invincible/Danehill (USA) cross that has produced eight Group 1 winners including Brazen Beau's son On The Bubbles, she is a half-sister to the three-time Hong Kong winner Leslie (Shooting To Win) and another promising Hong Kong-based galloper in Jubilant Winner (Capitalist).
Her dam is a winning daughter of the stakes-placed Effervescence (Palace Music {USA}), grandam of the four-time Group 1 winner Appearance (Commands) and the Listed winner Mascareri (Commands) from the family of Victory Vein (Mr Henrysee {USA}) and another nice type in Hong Kong; the recent Sha Tin winner Fun Elite (also by Brazen Beau).
Lot 591 - Proisir x Langbein (NZ) (Makfi {GB}) (brown colt)
Being sold on behalf of Makybe, this son of one of New Zealand's best stallions is the third foal for a well-related mare whose first foal Bellutta (NZ) (Belardo {Ire}) has been racing in consistent form in New Zealand.
Langbein's dam The First Lady (Redoute's Choice) is a daughter of the outstanding broodmare Miss Jakeo (Unbridled's Song {USA}) whose 11 winners from 13 to race include the G1 Oakleigh Plate speedster Mrs Onassis (General Nediym) and the Group 3 winners Miss Judgement (Strategic), Aussies Love Sport (Redoute's Choice) and Fifth Avenue Lady (Encosta De Lago).
Miss Jakeo, a daughter of the dual Group 1 winner Lady Jakeo (Last Tycoon {Ire}), is also grandam of the stakes winners Passive Aggressive (Fastnet Rock), Missrock (Fastnet Rock), Renaissance Woman (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}) and Pearl Green (Fastnet Rock).
Lot 611 - Zousain x Loveitt (Sebring) (bay colt)
His young sire has made a most encouraging start to his stud career and his first runner out of a Sebring mare is the promising recent city winner Dyer. This is the highly successful Encosta De Lago/Sebring combination, one which provides for a cross of the lovely mare Rolls (USA) (Mr Prospector {USA}) and which has produced 10 stakes winners including the multiple Group 1 winner Fangirl (Sebring).
His dam, a $140,000 purchase at this sale, is a city-winning full sister to the the G3 Tesio S. winner Shoko and half-sister to the R. Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic and two-time Group winner Mimi Lebrock (Show A Heart) and the G3 Grand Prix S. winner Heavenly Thought (So You Think {NZ}).
Loveitt's first two runners are both winners including the promising Love The Cube (Rubick).
Lot 904 - Capitalist x Sequitur (So You Think {NZ}) (bay colt)
Showing good ability during a short career, his dam Sequitur (So You Think {NZ}) is a daughter of the stakes-placed Pontiana (Redoute's Choice) whose five winners include the G1 Randwick Guineas winner Inference (also by So You Think), the triple Group 2 winner Dragon Leap (Pierro) and dual Listed winner Illation (another So You Think).
The grandam of the dual Group 1 winner Jacquinot, Pontiana is a full sister to the Listed winner Grand Jardin (Redoute's Choice) out of the Listed Morphettville Guineas winner Liberty Rose (Royal Academy {USA}).
This family has enjoyed great success through the Magic Millions Sales ring, this colt related to the triple Group-winning $4 million mare Away Game (Snitzel).
Lot 1006 - All Too Hard x Sunflare (Written Tycoon) (bay/brown filly)
By a stallion who is a favourite for trainers and owners, she is the second foal for a two-time winning half-sister to the Listed VRC St Leger winner Dornier (Artie Schiller {USA}).
Sunflare (Written Tycoon) is out of the Group 1-placed Listed winner Deloraine (More Than Ready {USA}) who at her penultimate start was a game third in the G1 Coolmore Classic behind Eskimo Queen (NZ) (Shinko King {Ire}) and Hot Danish (Nothin' Leica Dane).
This is a strong international family, this filly able to claim amongst her relations the Canadian Horse of the Year Alywow (Can) (Alysheba {USA}). And she has an interesting pedigree with her sire bred on the sale Last Tycoon (Ire)/Kenmare (Fr)/Vain cross as her damsire Written Tycoon.
All Too Hard has sired the multiple Group 1 winner line-bred to Last Tycoon, the dual Group winner Frosted Gold (NZ) line-bred to Kenmare and the Group 1 mare Stefi Magnetica with a Vain cross.
Lot 1131 - Brave Smash x Classic Curl (Jpn) (Jungle Pocket {Jpn}) (bay filly)
Here is a filly for fans of the Japanese thoroughbred and what an interesting pedigree she has with her grandsire Tosen Phantom (Jpn) bred on a Sunday Silence (USA)/Tony Bin (Ire) cross, the opposite to Classic Curl (Jpn).
Classic Curl has already been represented by three winners and her progeny are sound and tough and certainly know how to find the line; Up Bang (Jpn) (Eishin Flash {Jpn}) an 11-time winner who has been in the placings on a further 26 occasions from a whopping 121 starts whilst her Asian-based son Candaba (Olympic Glory {Ire}) won eight races.
Good strike rates are a family trait, this filly's close relation I'm Yours (Jpn) (Falbrav {Ire}) a four-time Group winner who won five of 15. And it's a high-class family too, its other members including the outstanding gallopers Rulership (Jpn), Air Groove (Jpn) (Tony Bin {Ire}) and Duramente (Jpn).

Her Listed Gold Coast Bracelet and Magic Millions Stayers Cup-winning dam is doing a great job at stud with six winners amongst her seven foals to race including the Group 3-placed Randwick winner Amica (Rubick).
Also dam of the metropolitan winners The Runner (Snitzel) and Fantastic Man (Redoute's Choice), Femina Fashion (Shamardal {USA}) is a half-sister to the South African-based dual Group 1 winner Happy Archer (Dubawi {Ire}).

Hailing from the debut crop of a horse whose foals have created a big impression, this bright chestnut is a half-brother to three winners including the Nishikado (Invader) who was unbeaten in Australia before heading to Hong Kong.

Lot 1315 - Extreme Warrior - On A Given Day (Fastnet Rock) (bay filly)
Five of the six runners bred on this filly's Extreme Choice/Fastnet Rock cross are winners including the stakes winners Wollombi and Meridius and the former, like this filly, also carries a strain of Snippets.
That stallion's dam is the wonderful mare Easy Date (Grand Chaudiere {Can}) whose grandson Not A Single Doubt is Extreme Choice's sire; and he has also sired the Group 1 mare Espiona bred this way.
