The catalogue for the 2025 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale was released on November 18, 2024. Since then, a host of yearlings that will go through the ring at Inglis Riverside have had their pedigrees enhanced, which is important information for vendors and buyers alike.
Lot 759 - Pierro x Villa Verde (Not A Single Doubt), filly - on account of Kia Ora Stud
This pretty grey will be turning plenty of heads thanks to the exploits of her 2-year-old half-sister My Gladiola (I Am Invincible), who debuted in phenomenal style last month with a victory in the G3 Blue Diamond Preview (fillies). Yarraman Park’s Champion Sire boasts 50 juvenile stakeswinners, at a 21.1 per cent stakes winner to winners rate, and while this filly’s sire Pierro has chalked up a modest eight juvenile stakeswinners, that accounts for 18.6 per cent of his juvenile winners from a much smaller quantity to race. His stock improve with age.
My Gladiola is hoping to progress all the way to the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes, and has accepted for the G2 Blue Diamond Prelude (fillies) this weekend. She was a $550,000 graduate of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale last year, where she was purchased by Redgum Racing and sent to John McArdle.
G2 Challenge Stakes winner Villa Verde continues to produce quality stock - although My Gladiola is her first stakeswinner, she boasts five winners from six to race and is superbly related, as a full sister to young stallion Doubtland and Listed Mode Plate winner Pretty Fast, whose Wootton Bassett (GB) colt was snapped up by Tom Magnier for $650,000 at last month’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Lot 470 - Zousain x Nataya Rose (Canny Lad), colt - on account of Robyn Wise
Out of a half-sister to emerging blue hen Gold Anthem (El Moxie {USA}), whose descendants include star shuttler Starspangledbanner and G1 Melbourne Cup placegetter Okita Soushi (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), this colt got a great boost at the end of last month from his half-brother Shining Smile (Spirit Of Boom). The 2-year-old was a savvy $160,000 weanling purchase for Boomer Bloodstock (FBAA) at the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale, where he was also offered by Robyn Wise.
Shining Smile was dual stakes-placed in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial and G3 Maribyrnong Plate before the catalogue went to print, and picked up a maiden win at Caulfield Heath in late November. The Lindsay Park team kept him under wraps over Christmas and unleashed the 2-year-old colt in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (colts & geldings), where he launched to a 1.75l win to put his name in all capitals. He hasn’t accepted for the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude (colts & geldings) this weekend, but there’s other routes to Group 1 glory.
Another half sibling to this yearling, So Nataya (So You Think {NZ}), picked up her second win on Sunday at Bunbury.
Gold Anthem added another string to her bow in November courtesy of grandson Garza Blanca (I Am Invincible,), who won the Listed Doveton Stakes at Caulfield. The Ciaron Maher-trained 5-year-old finished fourth in the $1 million The Syndicate at his most recent start.

Lot 274 - Captivant x Happy Pilgrim (Congrats {USA}), filly - on account of Rheinwood Pastoral Co
This filly is sure to garner plenty of inspections this week, courtesy of her 3-year-old brother, the unbeaten Private Harry (Harry Angel {Ire}). A $115,000 purchase for Kurrinda Bloodstock and Doyle Racing at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale two years ago, Private Harry had won his first start when the catalogue went to print - but the best was very much yet to come.
Since then, the Nathan Doyle-trained colt has strung four in a row together, and was last seen decimating a quality field up at the Gold Coast when winning the $3 million Magic Millions Sunlight in the B2B Thoroughbreds slot, pushing his prize money over the $1 million mark. B2B Thoroughbreds purchased a share in the star colt for $25,250 on Inglis Digital in early November, off the back of that superb first win. The colt has lofty goals for this preparation, with connections setting him up for an assault in the G1 The Galaxy next month, followed by the G1 TJ Smith Stakes. With a bit of luck, this particular yellow brick road leads to G1 The Everest in the autumn.
Kurrinda Bloodstock were so pleased with their developing colt that they purchased his half-brother, now named Lance Corporal (Anders), for $100,000 at last year’s edition of this sale. He has had just the one trial in December, before being tipped out to grow. Happy Pilgrim is progressing well as a broodmare, striking with three winners from four to race.
