Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Two exciting 3-year-old runners are set to hit the track across Australia on Thursday. A Toronado (Ire) filly that has looked sharp at the trials makes her debut at Gosford, and a promising Super Seth gelding resumes at Pakenham.

Oakfield Jupiter, 3-year-old filly (Toronado (Ire) x Isle Of Capri {Street Cry {Ire}})
Oakfield Jupiter, a daughter of Swettenham Stud’s proven stallion Toronado (Ire), will make her debut at Gosford over 1200 metres for Wyong trainer Damien Lane on Thursday. She has looked very talented, winning three trials, on the Beaumont Newcastle track, and at Newcastle.
This promising filly is the third foal from the Street Cry (Ire) mare Isle Of Capri, who was a winner of 1400 metres. She has started her broodmare career well, leaving the two-time winner Ocean Honour (Merchant Navy).

Oakfield Jupiter, comes from an outstanding extended family, including the Group winners include G1 Easter Handicap winner Calveen (NZ) (Canny Lad), G3 Widden Stakes Fireworks (Snitzel), G2 Kenilworth Choice Carriers Championship winner Ektifaa (More Than Ready {USA}), and G3 Aspiration Stakes winner Thalassophile (Not A Single Doubt).
Isle Of Capri’s further progeny include a yearling colt by The Autumn Sun, a colt foal by Harry Angel (Ire), and she was subsequently served by Ozzmosis last spring.
Oakfield Jupiter was a $320,000 purchase by B MacKenzie, from the draft of Torryburn Stud at the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
Sportsbet-Pakenham, Race 2, 6.15pm AEDT, Beraldo Coffee 3YO Maiden Plate, $40,000, 1200m
Fauci (NZ), 3-year-old gelding (Super Seth x Tegwin (NZ) {O’Reilly {NZ}})
The well-related Fauci (NZ) (Super Seth) is set to make his secondstart over 1200 metres for Cranbourne trainer’s Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young at Pakenham, on Thursday. He rain eighth at his only start last November at Moonee Valley, but he looks like he has returned well after a break, as he was an impressive winner at the Cranbourne jump-outs over 1000 metres on March 17.
Fauci is a son of Waikato Stud’s exciting Super Seth, and is out of the O’Reilly (NZ) mare Tegwin (NZ), who was a winner over a mile. She has already had success at stud, leaving Fauci’s three-quarter-brother Let’s Karaka Deel (NZ) (Dundeel {NZ}), who has placed in the G1 South Australian Derby, G3 Caulfield Classic, and the Listed Adelaide Guineas. Her only other runner to race has been Dulcet (NZ) (Eminent {Ire}), who has been a two-time winner.

Tegwin is also a half-sister to the Rip Van Winkle (Ire) gelding Winkler (NZ), who was a four-time winning stayer, and was good enough to place in the Listed Grafton Cup. Tegwin’s dam is the classy Anne Carina (NZ) (Danske), who won six times including the Listed Eagle Farm Stakes.
Tegwin, since producing Fauci, has left a 2-year-old filly by Super Seth named Shania (NZ), a yearling colt by Dundeel (NZ), and a colt foal by Proisir, and she was subsequently served last spring by Paddington (GB).
Fauci sold for NZ$125,000 at the 2023 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale, with Busuttin Racing and Andrew Campbell Bloodstock (BAFNZ) being the successful purchaser from the draft of Wentwood Grange.
Looking Back
Fleur De Blues (NZ) (U S Navy Flag {USA}) - ran an okay sixth at Hawera, she should improve off that effort.
Grand Prairie (Written Tycoon) - ran a very good fourth at Kensington in a strong field. He was attacking the line late, and looks to have plenty of ability going forward.
Facilitate (Capitalist) - was charging late to run second, he only missed by 0.06l, one more stride and he is probably the winner. It was a solid run.
