It's an exciting time for Rosemont Stud. They have announced that G1 William Reid Stakes winner Schwarz will retire after the G1 Doomben 10,000, after which a service fee will be formalised. Another exciting addition is the royally bred Henry Longfellow, who shuttles from Ireland for his first Australian season at $22,000 inc GST.

2025 is a defining new era in Rosemont Stud's journey of standing stallions at their beautiful Gnarwarre base. Two elite prospects for the Australian market will join their existing four stallions to make up an exciting six-strong roster.

Leading the roster will be Schwarz, Australia’s only Group 1 weight-for-age-winning son of Zoustar. Set to retire to stud in 2025, Schwarz brings every commercial credential breeders seek-elite speed, strength of sire-line, physical presence, and race performance at the highest level.

Joining him is what Rosemont believes to be one of the most appealing shuttle prospects ever seen in the southern hemisphere; Henry Longfellow (Ire), a son of the all-conquering Dubawi (Ire). A Group 1-winning juvenile and with one of Europe’s most coveted pedigrees, Henry Longfellow represents a rare and prestigious opportunity for Australian breeders.

Returning to the roster in 2025 is Shamus Award, the dominant sire-son of Snitzel and already an elite Group 1-producing stallion in his own right. With his progeny continuing to deliver at the highest level, Shamus Award remains one of the most potent proven options available to breeders.

Also retained are exciting young stallions Hanseatic, Extreme Warrior, and Doull-each boasting Group-winning sprint form and outstanding physical credentials.

Schwarz the stunner with speed to burn

It has been confirmed that Schwarz, the brilliant all-the-way winner of the G1 William Reid Stakes, will retire to stand at Rosemont Stud in 2025. Already a five-time stakes winner, Schwarz will retire as Zoustar's most accomplished entire.

He also becomes the first $1 million-plus yearling and Group 1 WFA-winning sprinter over distances of 1200 metres or less to head to stud in Australia in over a decade.

Schwarz is the first live foal out of G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes victress Summer Sham (Not A Single Doubt), who has already been a star in the breeding barn, producing commercial types that sell for big money consistently.

“We believe he’s not only Zoustar’s greatest, most successful son, but also his best-looking and indeed best-bred stallion,” said Rosemont Bloodstock Manager Ryan McEvoy.

“As a $1.25 million Magic Millions purchase from a Group 2-winning daughter of Not A Single Doubt, who descends directly from the family of Redoute’s Choice, he offers everything you’d want in a top-class stallion prospect; type, sire-line, pedigree, attitude, and Group 1-winning speed.”

Schwarz delivered a string of elite performances in his final five starts, including his William Reid triumph and two dominant Group 2 weight-for-age wins, each over 1200 metres.

By the world-class sire Zoustar—2024’s leading sire globally by winners, and also the leading sire in Australia by Group 1, stakes, and overall winners—Schwarz stood out at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, where he was secured by John O’Shea, Rosemont, and Suman Hedge as part of the Rosemont Alliance syndicate.

“I haven’t trained a better-looking, more imposing colt than him, nor many faster,” said trainer John O’Shea.

“He’s the highest-rated yearling I have seen in years. It is scary how rare it is for a colt to fetch $1 million-plus at the sales and achieve Group 1 WFA success. He’s a slam dunk prospect.”

Schwarz will stand for a 'Price On Application' basis with an official fee set to be confirmed after his performance in the G1 Doomben 10,000 on May 17, for which he is currently the early favourite.

Henry Longfellow lands at Rosemont with regal credentials

An exciting addition to the Rosemont Stud roster for 2025, is the stunning and royally bred Henry Longfellow—a Group 1-winning 2-year-old son of the legendary Dubawi and he will stand for a fee of $22,000 inc GST.

Henry Longfellow was unbeaten at two, culminating in a dominant 5l victory in the €400,000 G1 National Stakes. Henry Longfellow is out of the great Minding (Ire), who is Galileo’s (Ire) highest-rated daughter. He becomes only the second Group 1-winning 2-year-old by Dubawi to stand in Australia, joining the influential Too Darn Hot (GB) who has had great success in Australia and now stands at a $275,000 inc GST.

“Sons of Dubawi have really set the industry alight and his legacy as a breed-shaping stallion is proving every post a winner, with eight of his sons having already sired Group 1 winners of their own, including Night Of Thunder, Too Darn Hot, Zarak and New Bay,” explains Rosemont Principal Anthony Mithen.

“Given the 2-year-old impact stallions such as Too Darn Hot and Night Of Thunder—also from Gaileo mares—have had in Australia, particularly with Danehill-line mares, it made sense for us to target a high-quality 2-year-old son of Dubawi to stand in Victoria.”

Hanseatic – A hot young stallion on the rise

Priced affordably at $16,500 inc GST, the popular Hanseatic is making all the right moves in the early stages of his stallion career. With multiple 2-year-old winners and three stakes performers already, his momentum is building.

Over 500 mares were covered in his first three seasons, and his influence is set to grow over the next 12 months. In the sale ring, Hanseatic’s stock has attracted strong demand, his 2024 yearlings sold for up to $375,000, while 2025 saw continued support with prices of $230,000, $200,000 and $180,000.

Shamus Award at $33,000

Standing at $33,000 inc GST, Shamus Award continues to justify his place among Australia’s elite sires. The G1 Cox Plate-winning son of Snitzel added his sixth individual Group 1 winner in 2024 when Quintessa (NZ) was successful in the G1 Levin Classic, further underlining his status as a proven source of top-tier talent.

Firmly established as Snitzel’s most successful sire-son, Shamus Award is also statistically one of the most effective stallions in the country with a 5.9 per cent stakes winners-to-runners ratio.

With an average book of just over 150 mares over the last four seasons, Shamus Award offers breeders value at an accessible fee.

Promising Extreme Warrior enters fourth season

The highest-rated 3-year-old son of Extreme Choice, Extreme Warrior stands his fourth season at $13,200 inc GST.

Precocious from the outset, he announced himself as a 3-year-old in the G3 Blue Sapphire Stakes with a powerhouse finish described by caller Matt Hill as a “wow performance… Extreme Warrior runs straight past Profiteer… this is going to be a demolition!”

His first crop yearlings have sold for up to $160,000 and have been well received across the board.

Electric Doull to stand for $7,700

In 2024, Rosemont launched the career of Doull, the explosively fast and striking son of four-time Champion sire Snitzel. He returns in 2025 at a reduced fee of $7,700 inc GST.

A $1.2 million Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale graduate, Doull was electric on debut down the Flemington straight, a performance later rated by Daniel O’Sullivan of The Ratings Bureau as the “best performance by a juvenile colt throughout the 21/22 season.”

He resumed in the 2023 spring to win the G2 Caulfield Sprint, recording the fastest final 600-metre split across all Group sprint races at Caulfield that season.

Out of a 2-year-old stakes-winning daughter of Shamardal (USA), Doull is an excellent physical specimen and beautifully bred.
