The partnership of Sledmere Stud and Cangon Stud Farm enjoyed a successful day's buying at Riverside on Monday and one of their five purchases really caught our eye as a value selection.
That being Lot 189, a son of Newgate Farm's G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Stay Inside who ended the day with the highest aggregate with his seven youngsters sold fetching a total of $891,750.
His average was $127,393, making this colt purchased for $45,000 a definite bargain!

A price which Sledmere's Royston Murphy is hopeful can lead to a nice profit margin when the chestnut makes his way back to Inglis for a yearling sale next year.

Sledmere have certainly enjoyed good success with the Stay Inside breed; at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, they sold a $400,000 filly to Ciaron Maher Bloodstock and E Lucas, and a $450,000 colt to Anthony and Sam Freedman, Julian Blaxland Bloodstock (FBAA), and Kia Ora Stud.

As well as four at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for an average of $335,000.
“We are very hopeful that Stay Inside will have a great start to his career on the track and we are very happy to pick up a nice, sharp colt like this.
“Being by Stay Inside out of a Choisir mare who is a three-quarter-sister to Starspangledbanner, you'd like to think that he will be a sharp type, he definitely presents that way.
“He is a late foal and we are always forgiving of those in regards to size,” he continued, adding that he has been impressed by how the breed progresses. "We have found the improvement in them from foals to yearlings is really good and we are not overly worried that he is what we'd call a little bit on the smaller side.
“We are looking forward to seeing how he develops over the next few months.”

Bred by B Holland, the flashy chestnut is the fifth foal produced by the two-time winner The Snow Queen (Choisir), a $60,000 yearling whose first three runners have all featured in the placings.
The Snow Queen is one of the eight winners for Circles Of Ice (Marauding), also dam of the Listed winners Tagine (Last Tycoon {Ire}) and Marcado (Choisir).
Circles Of Ice is out of the excellent producer National Song (Vain), dam of eight winners including the stakes-placed Gold Anthem (Made Of Gold), dam of the globe-trotting multiple Group 1-winning successful stallion Starspangledbanner and grandam of the G1 1000 Guineas heroine Amicus (Fastnet Rock), whose sons Okita Soushi (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Chief Little Rock (Ire) (Galileo) are Group 3 winners, the former a game third in last year's G1 Melbourne Cup.
The triple stakes-winning 2-year-old Shining Smile (Spirit Of Boom) is an in-form member of this prolific family, one of the strongest branches of the prolific Eulogy (GB) (Cicero {GB}) family with this colt also able to boast amongst his relations the big race winners Elvstroem, Haradasun, Highland Reel (Ire), Cape Of Good Hope (Ire), Circles Of Gold (Marscay), Angel Bleu (Fr) (Dark Angel {Ire}) and Polar Success (Success Express {USA}).
