Looking Ahead - June 01

Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two exciting runners are running across Australia on Sunday. A Cosmic Force gelding chases maiden success at Muswellbrook and a Pierro filly chases maiden success at Moe.

Muswellbrook, Race 1, 12.25pm AEDT, Greg Cribb Memorial Red Crown 2YO Handicap, $30,000, 900m

Raging Force, 2-year-old gelding (Cosmic Force) x Miss Loren {Stryker})

The promising Raging Force (Cosmic Force) is set to chase maiden success at Muswellbrook on Saturday for trainer Peter Snowden

The son of Cosmic Force ran a solid sixth on debut in the G3 Breeders’ Plate behind King Kirk (Ole Kirk), after having a nice break he trialled nicely when running third at Randwick on May 25 behind More Revolution (Russian Revolution) in preparation for his resuming run.

Raging Force is the first foal out of Miss Loren (Stryker), she was a winner over 1200 metres and was placed in the Listed Debutant Stakes.

While the family isn’t strong in terms of an abundance of black type within the page, Miss Loren is a half-sister to seven other individual winners including Andamooka Gem (Quest For Fame {GB}) who was a seven-time winner.

Since producing Raging Force, Miss Loren has produced a yearling colt by Captivant, a weanling colt by Zousain, and was subsequently served again by Zousain last spring.

Raging Force was purchased by Darby Racing for $150,000 from the draft of Mullaglass Stud at the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Moe, Race 3, 11.35am AEDT, Moe Denture Clinic Maiden Plate, $27,000, 2088m

Taste Of Wine, 3-year-old filly (Pierro x Abbey Marie {Redoute’s Choice})

The beautifully-bred Taste Of Wine (Pierro) is set to make her fourth start over 2088 metres at Moe on Sunday. She has built up nicely throughout her career running in the top four every time, she looks ready to win over a middle distance in this event.

Taste Of Wine’s dam Abbey Marie (Redoute’s Choice) was talented, she was a three-time winner including the G1 Schweppes Oaks.

It is a family with plenty of depth, Abbey Marie is a full sister to Absolutely (Redoute’s Choice), she was victorious in the G1 Australian Oaks. She is also a three-quarter-sister to the Group winners Runaway (Manhattan Rain) and She’s Clean (Redoute’s Choice).

Since producing Taste Of Wine, Abbey Marie has produced a 2-year-old colt named Inspired Legend (Dundeel {NZ}), a yearling colt by Maurice (Jpn), a weanling filly by Maurice, and was most recently served by Dundeel (NZ) last spring.

Taste Of Wine was purchased for $300,000 from the draft of Arrowfield Stud at the 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale by Dermot Farrington Bloodstock

Looking Back

Ascension (NZ) (Almanzor {Fr}) - ran a slashing third at Te Rapa, she ran on strongly from well back.

Wiltshire Square (Wootton Bassett {GB}) - got the job done at Werribee, she deserved that success.

Madiyya (NZ) (Super Seth) - was very good winning at Caulfield, she is a very talented filly.
