Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two promising 2-year-olds are set to step out across Australia on Friday. A well-bred filly by Toronado (Ire) makes her debut at Swan Hill, while Ipswich hosts an exciting son of Farnan who will be looking to keep his unbeaten record intact.

Silvasista, 2-year-old filly (Toronado (Ire) x Silver Tiara {Ferocity})

The well-related Silvasista (Toronado {Ire}) will be making her debut on Friday at Swan HIll for trainer’s Tony and Calvin McEvoy. She looked smart winning a jump-out at Ballarat on May 27 over 900 metres.

Silvasista is by the outstanding Toronado (Ire) and is the seventh foal from the Ferocity mare Silver Tiara, she only raced twice but has proven to be a smart broodmare leaving three winners.

The best of these has been Silvera (High Chaparral {Ire}) who was a 10-time winner from 1400 metres to 2000 metres, his best success came in the Listed Tattersall’s Mile Handicap, Listed Member’s Cup and the Listed Morphettville Guineas.

Silver Tiara is also well-related being a half-sister to Shoot Out (High Chaparral {Ire}) who was a 10-time winner including in the G1 Australian Derby and another four Group 1 races.

She is also a half-sister to the Group 3 winners I’m A Princess (High Chaparral {Ire}) and Cassandra Shadow (NZ) (Johannesburg {USA}).

Unfortunately Silver Tiara has not produced a live-foal since leaving Silvasista, and she also missed to Best Of Bordeaux last spring.

Bourbon County, 2-year-old colt (Farnan x Accoy {Unencumbered})

The Lee Freedman-trained Bourbon County (Farnan) will have his second start over 1200 metres at Ipswich on Friday. He looked sharp winning on debut on the Synthetic Track at the Sunshine Coast on debut on May 18, and he looks more than capable of staying unbeaten.

Bourbon County is by the exciting Farnan and is the first foal out of the Unencumbered mare Accoy, who was a three-time winner from 1000 metres to 1600 metres.

Bourbon County’s gradam is the very talented Infinite Grace (Prince Of Birds {USA}), she was a seven-time winner including in the Tristarc Stakes twice, once at Group 2-level and once at Group 3-level.

Other Group winners within the pedigree include The Mitigator (Master Of Design), Fontein Ruby (Turffontein {USA}), Parure (Fastnet Rock), and Cardinal Gem (Choisir).

Since producing Bourbon County, Accoy has left a Pierata yearling filly, a Stronger yearling colt, and was most recently served by Prague last spring.

Bourbon County was purchased at the 2024 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale for $50,000 by Tallan Pty Limited from the draft of Bhima Thoroughbreds.

Quello Dorato (Trapeze Artist) - ran a solid sixth resuming at Geelong, it was a lovely run with an eye on races at a mile and further.

Deflector (Pride Of Dubai) - ran third at Wagga, it was a solid effort and she is improving with racing.
