Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Two exciting runners take their place across Australia on Sunday. Progeny by Castelvecchio and I Am Invincible are both chasing success.
Bet365 Echuca, Race 2, 1,10pm AEDT, Border Inn Hotel Moama Maiden Plate, $42,500, 1200m
Castelli In Aria (NZ), 4-year-old mare (Castelvecchio x Believer (GB) {Lawman {Fr}})
The promising Castelli In Aria (NZ) (Castelvecchio) is set to chase maiden success at Echuca on Sunday for trainer Enver Jusufovic.
The daughter of Castelvechhio ran a solid second on debut at Bairnsdale on July 21 over 1000 metres, and with natural improvement, she looks hard to roll in this event.
Castelli In Aria is the fourth foal out of Believer (GB) (Lawman {Fr}), she was placed in France and Australia on the track.

She hails from a strong international family with Wind Chimes (GB) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) being a Group 3 and Listed winner, who also placed in both the G1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches in France. Another fmaily member is last season's talented juvenile Buccleuch (Peltzer), who picked three wins, including one at Listed level.
Since producing Castelli In Aria, Believer has not produced a live foal, but is due to foal to Anders in October.
Castelli In Aria was purchased by Bourne Racing Stables for $105,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.
Sunshine Coast, Race 4, 2.17pm, AEDT, Oli and Vine Class 1 Handicap, $28,000, 1600m
Carnegie Hill, 4-year-old gelding (I Am Invincible x Aquamosa (NZ) {Alamosa {NZ}})
Sunshine Coast’s Sunday meeting will serve as the venue for Carnegie Hill to chase his second victory. He is a well-bred son of I Am Invincible from the Michael Freedman stable.
He has been consistent in his career so far, winning once and placing twice from his eight career starts.
Carnegie Hill is the third foal out of the handy filly Aquamosa (NZ) (Alamosa {NZ}). She was successful twice at 1100 and 1400 metres, and also placed in the G3 Taranaki 2YO Classic as a juvenile.

Carnegie Hill has some solid blood within his pedigree, his second-dam Adalia (NZ) was a two-time winner and is a half-sister to the Singapore Champion Big Maverick (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}) and El Laoob (USA) (Red Ransom {USA}), who was stakes-placed in Great Britain.
Carnegie Hill is a year older full brother to Jimmy Recard (I Am Invincible), who was a dual winner as a juvenile and looks very promising.
In recent times, Aquamosa has left an I Am Invincible 2-year-old filly, a yearling filly by Hellbent, and is due to foal to Hellbent in October.
Carnegie Hill was a $400,000 purchase by Mitchell Bloodstock (FBAA) from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
