Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two promising horses are hitting the track at Seymour on Friday. Promising runners by Ardrossan and Capitalist are looking to break through for maiden success.

Shiny Love (NZ), 4-year-old mare (Ardrossan x Miss Rule (NZ) {Bachelor Duke {USA})

Shiny Love (NZ), a daughter of Waikato Stud’s Ardrossan, will make her second start at Seymour over 1400 metres on Friday for trainer’s Mick Price and Michael Kent (Jnr). This well-related filly ran sixth on debut back in March, and after a break, she has had three jump-outs at Cranbourne in preparation for her resuming run.

She is the fifth live-foal from Miss Rule (NZ) (Bachelor Duke {USA}), she only raced once on the track. As a broodmare, she has so far left Coolmeans (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}), who has been a five-time winner and Lex Rex (Per Incanto {USA}) who was a winner at Avondale.

Other stakes-performers that feature throughout this pedigree are Secret Liaisons (NZ) (T. V. Heart Throb {USA}), Reigning To Win (King Of Kings {Ire}), Rocanto (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}), and Bluetrain (NZ) (Tights {USA}).

Shiny Love was initially purchased for $30,000 by Enigma Farm from the 2023 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale, before she was a successful pinhook and sold for $100,000 to Mick Price Racing and Breeding from the draft of Prima Park at the 2023 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale.

Facilitate, 3-year-old gelding (Capitalist x Medic {Snitzel})

Seymour’s Sunday meeting will be the venue for the fourth start of Facilitate (Capitalist). This promising 3-year-old has run two good seconds and a fourth at Listed level as a juvenile.

The Leon and Troy Corstens and Will Clarkin-trained galloper has had three jump-outs recently for two wins and a second, to prepare himself for his resuming run.

The sharply-bred gelding is the first foal from the Snitzel mare Medic, who was placed on the track.

Medic is very well-related, she is a sister to Estijaab (Snitzel) and Remarque (Snitzel), Estijaab was successful in the G1 Golden Slipper and the G2 Reisling Stakes, while Remarque won the G3 Concorde Stakes amongst his five wins up to 1200 metres.

Facilitate’s grandam is the super talented sprinter Response (Charge Forward), she was successful four times with her major wins being in the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, G1 Robert Sangster Stakes, and the G3 Matron Stakes.

Medic since producing Facilitate, has produced a 2-year-old filly by Ole Kirk, a Maurice (Jpn) yearling filly, and she is due to foal to Newhaven Park’s Mo’unga (NZ) any day now.

Facilitate sold for $370,000 at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, with Baystone Farm being the successful purchaser from the draft of Newhaven Park.

Looking Back

Espana (Capitalist) - Ran an okay fifth at Bendigo, she should improve off that run.

Lady Verity (I Am Invincible) - Was scratched from her race at Bendigo, she will keep for another day.

Savvy Hallie (Hellbent) - Won with ease at Newcastle, she showed her class and was far too good for her opposition.
