The 2025 Inglis Ready2Race Sale catalogue has been released, which features 29 vendors presenting 222 lots by the leading results-producing sires in Australasia and Hong Kong, including Champion Sires Zoustar, Snitzel, I Am Invincible, and Written Tycoon. In demand stallions such as Too Darn Hot (GB), Dundeel (NZ), Wootton Bassett (GB), and Ole Kirk will also be represented in this year’s catalogue.

By the numbers

Almost 800 individual winners have been produced from the auction since 2016, with an average earning-per-runner of $111,069, approximately 35% higher than its nearest rival sale, and $15,000 more than the average lot price ($96,641) across the same period.

Those winners include dual Group 1 winner Nettoyer (Sebring), Group winners Libertad (Russian Revolution), Tavi Time (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}), and Democracy Manifest (Flying Artie), and exciting young West Australian stallion Lightsaber, amongst many others.

In Hong Kong alone, there has been 96 individual winners (12% of winning graduates) who have collected 252 races since 2018, including 2022 sale graduate Rubylot (Rubick) who won the Listed Hong Kong Classic Cup in March of this year, taking his prizemoney to $HK15.5 million ($3.08 million) at the time.

Last racing season, sale graduates produced 11 individual winners of 17 Class 3 or better races in the jurisdiction. Graduates have also regularly scored in New Zealand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Macau.

“When it comes to Australian breeze up sales, there is no peer to the Inglis Ready2Race Sale in terms of graduate success, both domestically and internationally, so it’s fantastic to be able to present such a well-credentialled bunch of 2-year-olds to the buying bench in October,” said Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch.

Domestic sire power

“Last year was the best group of horses we have ever had for this sale, but this year’s group is a further progression on them, both in terms of physique and profile,” Hutch continued.

At the 2024 sale, a new sales record was set when unbeaten juvenile and G3 Quezette Stakes fourth-placed Signature Scent (Written Tycoon) sold for $1 million to Yulong from the draft of Baystone Farm.

“The domestic sire power catalogued truly is incredible for a 2-year-old sale in this part of the world, and of the top 20 active Australasian stallions in Hong Kong last season, 17 have offspring in this year’s catalogue.”

There are 88 sires represented in the catalogue, including offspring by emerging popular Hong Kong stallions The Autumn Sun, Toronado (Ire), Shamexpress (NZ), Shamus Award, and Star Turn. Last year, 29 of the 95 lots sold (30.5%) were bought by Hong Kong-based buyers; a testament to the sale's popularity as a source of talent for the jurisdiction.

For those who missed out on their first yearlings at this year’s sales series, 15 first season sires including Wild Ruler, Stay Inside, Home Affairs, Palace Pier (GB), and Captivant will all be represented in the sale.

Ready to race

“We have an outstanding group of preparers and consignors engaged in the sale, the majority of whom have been planning their drafts for this sale since last year’s very successful sale," Hutch said.

A lucrative sale for vendors, last year lot prices averaged $164,289, with a median of $100,000, and a 64.2% clearance rate, with a $15.6 million gross for the sale. Including Signature Scent, eight lots made $500,000 or more.

All horses offered in the sale will be eligible for the Inglis Race Series, which is worth a cumulative $12.55 million, and features the $5 million Xtra Bonus series (where 50 maiden races will come with a $100,000 bonus to the eligible winner) and $1 million Pink Bonus series for racehorses with majority female ownership, as well as races like the R. Listed Inglis Millennium and the $1 million Inglis Sprint.

Breeze-ups for the auction will take place at Warwick Farm and Taupo on September 29, and Wangaratta on September 30, with videos uploaded to the Inglis website within 48 hours of each session.

The auction itself will take place on Thursday, October 16 at the Riverside Stables complex in Sydney - just two days away from the world’s richest race on turf, the $20 million G1 Everest at Royal Randwick, which will be supported by the $5 million G1 King Charles III Stakes and the $2 million Kosciuszko.
