Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Two promising horses are hitting the track at Kembla Grange on Thursday. Progeny by Lonhro and I Am Invincible are both chasing success.
Kembla Grange, Race 2, 2.20pm AEDT, Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen’s Club Class 1 Handicap, $42,000, 1500m
Attica, 3-year-old colt (Lonhro x Savatiano {Street Cry {Ire}})
Kembla Grange’’s Thursday meeting will be the venue for the second start of Attica (Lonhro). The Godolphin owned and Joseph Pride-trained colt made quite an impact winning on debut at Warwick Farm, and looks likely to carry on his winning way in this Class 1 Handicap over 1500 metres.
Attica is from Lonhro’s second-to-last crop, and is the first foal of Godolphin’s brilliant race mare Savatiano (Street Cry {Ire}), who won 12 races including five at Group 2 level and was three times Group 1 placed.

She earned over $2.3 million on track, and has a 2-year-old colt Sabates (Palace Pier {GB}) and a yearling colt by I Am Invincible on the ground, unfortunately she missed to Extreme Choice last season.
Savatiano is a half-sister to G2 Moreton Cup winner Vilana (Hallowed Crown) who won eight races, and dual Listed winner Athiri (Lonhro) as well as stakes placed Rakomelo (Lonhro) and Aleppo Pine (Blue Point {Ire}). Savatiano’s dam, Retsina (Redoute’s Choice) is a winning daughter of Group 1 winner Star Shiraz (Sequalo).
Kembla Grange, Race 4, 3.35pm AEDT, Phil Ryan Memorial Maiden Handicap, $42,000, 1300m
Rajwa, 3-year-old filly (I Am Invincible x Red Lodge (USA) {Midshipman {USA}})
Kembla Grange's Thursday meeting will serve as the venue for Rajwa (I Am Invincible) to make her second start, she is a well-bred daughter of I Am Invincible from the Michael Freedman stable at Randwick.
She ran a solid race for fourth at Hawkesbury, and if she can get any luck from her wide draw should be very competitive in the hands of Andrew Adkins.

Rajwa is the fourth foal out of the handy filly Red Lodge (USA) (Midshipman{USA}). She was a dual winner in America as a juvenile including at Listed level.
She has already made an impact as a broodmare leaving three winners including the outstanding filly Manaal (Tassort) who has been a five-time winner including in the G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes, G2 Sweet Embrace Stakes, G2 Furious Stakes, G2 Sheraco Stakes and the G3 Gimcrack Stakes.
In recent times Red Lodge has left a 2-year-old filly by Zoustar, a yearling colt by Justify (USA), and missed to Tassort last season.
Looking Back
Hidden Motive (Capitalist) - Ran an honest third at Canterbury resuming, he should improve off that.
Our Queen (Ire) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}) - Won very easily at Canterbury, she is a very talented mare.
Trembles (Too Darn Hot {GB}) - was a lovely winner at Bendigo, she is putting a very handy record together.
