Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two promising 3-year-olds by Per Incanto (USA) and Satono Aladdin (Jpn) are chasing maiden success at start number two across Australia.

Kiwi Raider (NZ), 3-year-old filly (Per Incanto (USA) x Anaween {More Than Ready {USA}})

The promising Kiwi Raider (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) is set to make her second start over 1017 metres at Moe for trainer Mark Walker on Tuesday.

She ran a solid third on debut at Mornington behind the very promising Street Artist (NZ) (Super Seth) earlier in the month, and with natural improvement looks hard to beat in this maiden.

Kiwi Raider is the sixth foal out of Anaween (More Than Ready {USA})), she was a winner at 900 metres on the track, and has produced three winners.

Kiwi Raider’s grandam Little Chloe (Danehill {USA}) was a winner at 1400 metres and was three times stakes-placed, she is a full sister to the Group 1-winning sprinter and former successful Cambridge Stud stallion Keeper.

Further back in the family are the Group 1 winners Amarelinha (NZ) (Savabeel), Metal Bender (NZ) (Danasinga), and the young sire North Pacific.

Since producing Kiwi Raider, Anaween has left an In The Congo yearling filly, and is due to foal to Per Incanto (USA) any day now.

Kiwi Raider was purchased for NZ$270,000 by DC Ellis (CNZM), Ozzie Kheir, Group 1 Bloodstock and Bruce Perry Bloodstock from the draft of Kilgravin Lodge at the 2024 NZB Ready To Run Sale.

Satono Invader (NZ), a daughter of Rich Hill Stud’s Satono Aladdin (Jpn), will be making her second start at Taree over 1312 metres for trainer Kris Lees.

She ran a very good race for second on debut at Coffs Harbour on September 4, where she battled on strongly for second from an on-pace position behind Keiko Say (Rothesay), who has since franked the form and gone on to win again at her next start.

Satono Invader is the fourth live-foal from the Duporth mare Grace Invader (NZ), who placed on the track in New Zealand.

The family is a bit quiet in black type close-up but Satono Invader’s great grandam is the very classy seven-time winner Pace Invader (NZ) (Westminster {NZ}). She was a the winner of the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas and the G1 Thorndon Mile.

There have been no further mare returns received since Grace Invader produced Satono Invader.
