Lovatsville are thrilled with the Generation filly produced by Group 1-winning mare Tycoon Tara (Written Tycoon), and she’s bred on a successful cross with Generation being by Snitzel.
Written Tycoon has sired three Group 1 winners out of Snitzel mares, being Private Life, Captured By Love and Velocious. This filly is bred on the reverse, being by a son of Snitzel from a Written Tycoon mare.
“We were looking for daughters of Written Tycoon specifically for Generation as he’s a son of Snitzel and the cross is so good. We were fortunate to buy Tycoon Tara through a connection with the previous owner, and bought her privately for Generation,” said Lovatsville General Manager Brian Byrnes.
“She’s owned by a broodmare syndicate that Lovatsville has set up and is part of. We were fortunate to buy her, as a Group 1-winning daughter of Written Tycoon who fits the bill perfectly.”

It's all about the hindquarter with Generation
Generation, a sprinting son of Snitzel, is known for his large hindquarter and Lovatsville are using that in their advertising for him.
“The filly is a beautiful type. A really good quality foal and I couldn’t be happier,” said Byrnes.

She is the fourth live foal for Tycoon Tara, whose first foal Zeminnika (Zoustar) is a winner, while her 3-year-old colt Pastoral King (Hanseatic) is unraced.
“Our key focus for Generation is that he’s got that big butt that we so desperately want in a fast horse. We were hoping he’d throw that into his foals, and he’s done that. This filly is a great example of what we were hoping he’d throw.

“She’s very strong, with a good hindquarter, and great balance. This is a very nice style of foal and Tycoon Tara will go back to Generation based purely on this foal.”
Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Tycoon Tara won the G1 Tattersall’s Tiara at her second last start to take her impressive record to 10 wins from 33 starts with earnings over $1.1 million. She also won the G2 Golden Pendant, G2 Missile Stakes, and three Group 3 races.
Written Tycoon upgraded this family with Tycoon Tara being the first stakes winner since fourth dam Julie Kate (USA) (Hill Prince {USA}) who won the G3 Arlington Park Misty Isle Handicap and a Listed race. Julie Kate produced two stakes winners including Listed winner Kate’s Intent (USA) (Intentionally {USA}), dam of G1 Royal Ascot King's Stand Stakes winner and sire Godswalk (USA).

Tycoon Tara’s dam Mosstara (Encores {NZ}) was no slouch though, winning four times including once at Flemington. She has produced two other winners The Passage (Ilovethiscity) and In High Spirits (Happy Giggle).
A good-sized book for Generation
Generation covered 64 mares in his first season in 2024 at $11,000 including GST.
A $575,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale graduate, sold by Newgate Farm, and bought by Ciaron Maher Racing and Dermot Farrington Bloodstock, Generation won his first two in succession as an April and May juvenile.
Back at three, he proved to be a sound sprinter who raced until he was five, winning twice at Group 3 level and placing five more times at Group 2 and Group 3 level. He ran fourth in the G1 AJ Moir Stakes, beaten only by Coolangatta (Written Tycoon), Bella Nipotina (Pride Of Dubai), and Zoustyle (Zoustar), and was also fourth in September Run (Exceed And Excel)’s G1 William Reid Stakes.

“We have three (Generation foals) on the farm here for a varying group of owners. There isn’t a bad one amongst them. The Tycoon Tara is a good example. They are all good-looking foals with that big hindquarter, and all seem to move really well.
“I can only vouch for the three we have, but I wouldn’t be giving any of them up.”
