Chicama, 3-year-old colt (Written Tycoon x The Broken Shore {Hussonet {USA}})
The beautifully-bred Chicama (Written Tycoon) is set to make his fifth start over 1400 metres at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. He has run three placings in his career so far, including a lovely third at Rosehill at this last start on October 1 behind Ripley (Too Darn Hot {GB}).
Chicama is the seventh live foal from the Hussonet (USA) mare The Broken Shore. She was a metropolitan winner at 1100 metres on the track but has left a considerable mark as a broodmare leaving the three-time Group 1 winner Shoals (Fastnet Rock), the Listed winning gelding Groundswell (Fastnet Rock) and the winners Fjord (Fastnet Rock), Tides (Fastnet Rock) and Rapids (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}).

Chicama’s second dam is the great mare Shantha’s Choice (Canny Lad), she will forever have a lasting influence on the breed in Australasia as she left the Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice, the Group 1 winners and sires Manhattan Rain and Platinum Scissors, the Listed winner and sire Echoes Of Heaven, and the talented stakes-winner and stakes-producer in Sliding Cube (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}).
The Broken Shore since producing Chicama ,has left a 2-year-old colt named Intrepid (Maurice {Jpn}), and was then exported to Great Britain in January this year.
China Horse Club, Newgate, Go Bloodstock and Trilogy purchased the colt for $1.35 million from the draft of Arrowfield Stud at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Fernweh (NZ), 3-year-old gelding (Turn Me Loose (NZ) x Harlow (NZ) {Proisir})
The promising Fernweh (NZ) (Turn Me Loose {NZ}) looks a good chance to break through for his maiden victory at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
The Joseph Pride-trained galloper ran a tidy fifth resuming at Canterbury, and should strip a lot fitter in the hands of Nash Rawiller.

Fernweh is the first foal out of Harlow (NZ) (Proisir), she was a winner as a juvenile at Te Rapa. She comes from a family that lacks a bit of black type up close but Fernweh’s third dam is Joan’s Best (Gold Brose), she was a classy five-time winner, who was successful at Listed level in the South Island of New Zealand three times.
Fernweh was purchased for NZ$50,000 by Leighton Howl from the 2024 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale Book 2 out of the Highview Stud draft.

The David Vandyke-trained Wowzino (NZ) (Tarzino {NZ}), will be chasing his third win at only his tenth start at Doomben on Wednesday. The promising stayer has also picked up three placings in that time.
The Tarzino (NZ) gelding has always looked promising and he is starting to progress into a talented stayer that should be able to continue to work through the grades.

He is out of the Exceed And Excel mare Walk On Water (GB), who was a two-time winner as a juvenile in Great Britain. She has been a consistent producer having left 5 winners at stud.
Walk On Water is a half-sister to the talented Tavistock (NZ) filly Tavy (NZ), she was successful in the Listed Trevor Eagle Memorial as a 3-year old at Ellerslie.
Since producing Wowzino , Walk On Water has produced a Saville Row (NZ) 2-year-old colt and she most recently foaled a Benbatl (GB) colt earlier this month.
Wowzino (NZ) was originally a NZ$90,000 purchase by Landsdowne Park at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling Sale, and then he was successfully on-sold when a NZ$150,000 purchase by Rick Connolley Bloodstock. Who purchased him from the draft of Landsdowne Park Ltd at the 2023 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale.
