Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Three promising 3-year-olds by Ghaiyyath (Ire), Super Seth and Capitalist are chasing maiden success at Sale on Sunday.

Winsilence (NZ), 3-year-old gelding (Ghaiyyath (Ire) x Darci Brahma (NZ) {O’Reilly {NZ}})

The promising Ben, Will and JD Hayes-trained Winsilence (NZ) (Ghaiyyath {Ire}) is chasing victory on debut at Sale on Sunday.

He has had plenty of jump-out and trial experience, and looked handy winning his last one over 1000 metres at Pakenham earlier in the month.

Winsilence comes from a very strong family. He is the first foal from Ninkasi (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}), an unplaced half sister to the Group 1 winning 2-year-old Sacred Elixir (NZ) (Pour Moi {Ire}), and the five-time winner and Listed placed Waimarie (Snitzel).

Winsilence’s fourth dam is Horlicks (NZ) (Three Legs {GB}), who was a 17-time winner, and she won five Group 1 races across New Zealand and Australia and she also won the Japan Cup.

In recent years, Ninkasi has produced a 2-year-old gelding named Sumerian (NZ) (Armory {Ire}), and is due to foal to Chaldean (GB) this spring.

Winsilence was purchased for $275,000 by X Bloodstock from the Wentwood Grange draft at the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Forceofone (NZ), 3-year-old gelding (Super Seth x Heartfelt (NZ) {O’Reilly {NZ}})

The well-related Forceofone (NZ) is set to make his second start at Sale on Sunday over 1200 metres for trainers Ben, Will and JD Hayes. He ran eighth on debut in the G3 Chairman’s Stakes at Sandown back in February and has had a nice break and some jump-outs to prepare himself for his resuming run.

Forceofone is a son of Waikato Stud’s exciting Super Seth and is out of the O’Reilly (NZ) mare Heartfelt (NZ), who was unraced on the track.

She has already proven to be a reliable broodmare having left four winners including the four-time winner Sincere (NZ) (Savabeel), another four-time in Ocean Heart (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}), Hivari (NZ) (Tivaci) and Genuinely (NZ) (Tivaci).

Forceofone’s grandam Metropolitan (NZ) (Elusive City {USA}) was a talented racemare and was successful three times including in the Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes. She went onto become a very good broodmare leaving six individual winners including Residential (NZ) (Pins), who was successful nine times including in the G3 South Island Breeders Stakes, Listed Dunedin Guineas, Otago Breeders’ Stakes and the Listed Southland Guineas.

Heartfelt since producing Forceofone has left a 2-year-old colt by Ardrossan, and then missed to The Chosen One (NZ). She has now been retired from breeding.

Forceofone sold for NZ$150,000 at the 2024 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale with Lindsay Park Racing being the successful purchaser from the draft of Waikato Stud Ltd.

Path To Profit, 3-year-old filly (Capitalist x Dashoff {Dash For Cash})

The well-related Path To Profit (Capitalist) lines up for her third start at Sale for her trainer Ciaron Maher on Sunday.

She has run two solid races for second and fourth in her career so far and looks well placed to strike in this maiden event over 1200 metres in the hands of Logan Bates.

She is the tenth and last foal out of Dashoff (Dash For Cash), she was a winner over 1100 metres, but at stud has left four winners with the best of them clearly being Spright (Hinchinbrook), who was a six-time winner including in the G1 Sangster Stakes, three other Group 3 races and a Listed sprint.

Her other winners include Mine Two (I Am Invincible), who was a winner as a juvenile and placed in the G3 Schweppervescence Handicap, the six-time winner Johnny Dash (I Am Invincible) and Way We Go (California Dane).

Looking Back

Green Kirk (Ole Kirk) - Disappointed when running seventh on debut at Randwick.

Lady Of Five (Hanseatic) - Ran an honest second at Doomben, she battled on bravely.

Blandford Baron (Extreme Warrior) - Won nicely at Morphettville, becoming the first winner for his sire.
