Looking Ahead - November 16

Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two runners by I Am Invincible and Zoustar are chasing maiden success at Wyong on Sunday.

Wyong, Race 3, 2.28pm AEDT, Milangall Park Maiden Handicap, $42,000, 1000m

Chisholm, 2-year-old filly (I Am Invincible x Snitzerland {Snitzel})

Chisholm, a daughter of I Am Invincible, will make her fourth career start for trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr at Wyong over 1000 metres on Sunday.

She has only had three starts so far in her career and has placed in all three of them, and looks ready to gain well deserved success.

This promising filly is out of the super talented filly Snitzerland (Snitzel). She was victorious in the G1 Lightning Stakes as well as another five Group races. She has already proven to be a successful broodmare leaving the Group 3 winner Hard Landing (All Too Hard) and the stakes placed Saas Fee (All Too Hard).

Snitzerland has since produced a 2-year-old colt by Zoustar named Adhara, a yearling filly by Zoustar, and unfortunately slipped to Farnan last spring.

Chisholm was purchased for $500,000 by Kia Ora Stud at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Vinery Stud.

Wyong, Race 5, 3.38pm AEDT, Economy Waste Group F&M Class 1 Handicap, $42,000, 1350m

Mignonette, 3-year-old filly (Zoustar x Catkins {Dubawi {Ire}})

The well-bred Zoustar mare Mignonette (Zoustar) is chasing her second win for trainer Chris Waller at Wyong on Sunday.

She picked up her maiden win in April, and has battled a little bit since, but she looks ready to go close in this Class 1 Handicap over 1350 metres.

Mignonette is out of the classy and prolific winning Dubawi (Ire) mare Catkins. She won 16-races including 10 Group races and two Listed races. Catkins was also Group 1 placed five-times in her exceptional career. Adding to this she has also made a promising start to her stud career with her first two Medaglia D’Oro (USA) foals Cat D’Oro and Gracilistyla both being winners and they may add to their records by the time they finish racing.

Catkins since producing Mignonette (Zoustar) has left a 3-year-old filly named Nandina (So You Think {NZ}) a yearling filly by Churchill (Ire), and foaled a Tassort colt this spring.
