Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Three exciting runners by Spirit Of Boom, Super Seth and Tassort are chasing maiden success across Australia on Saturday
Sunshine Coast, Race 1, 1.18pm, AEDT (12.18pm local), Dreamtime Resorts QTIS 2YO Handicap, $85,000, 1000m
Scartoon, 2-year-old filly (Spirit Of Boom x Scarlett Tycoon {Written Tycoon})
The exciting Scartoon (Spirit Of Boom) is one of only two runners that bring raceday experience to the 2-year-old Handicap at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
On debut, she ran a very nice second behind the promising Rarotonga (North Pacific) at Eagle Farm, and off that experience, she looks a good chance to break her maiden status.

Scartoon is out of the unraced Written Tycoon mare Scarlet Tycoon, who in turn is out of Scarlet Vanhara (NZ) (Van Nistelrooy {USA}). She was a Listed winner in New Zealand and has left six individual winners at stud.
Scarlet Tycoon, since producing Scartoon, has left a yearling filly by Wild Ruler, and foaled a colt by Kobayashi in September.
Scartoon was purchased by Kelly Schweida Racing for $80,000 from the Kenmore Lodge draft at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.
Gosford, Race 1, 1.30pm AEDT, The Harris Mile Maiden Handicap, $42,000, 1100m
Gold Cup (NZ), 3-year-old filly (Super Seth x Together (NZ) {Ocean Park {NZ}})
The promising Gold Cup (NZ) (Super Seth) makes her second start at Gosford on Saturday over 1600 metres for trainer Kris Lees.
Gold Cup was bred by Waikato Stud and is out of Together (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}), a two-time winner and half-sister to the Group 3-placed Save The Date (NZ) (Savabeel).

Gold Cup comes from the family of the outstanding globetrotter Starcraft (NZ), who was successful in Group 1 races in Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and France.
In recent years, Together has not had much luck at stud, since foaling Gold Cup she has unfortunately had foals that have died by Ardrossan and Super Seth, and she was not served last spring.
Gold Cup was purchased by KPW Bloodstock for NZ$80,000 from the Waikato Stud draft at the 2024 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale.
Gosford, Race 5, 3.50pm AEDT, The Castle Hill Maiden Plate, $42,000, 1100m
Diacon, 3-year-old filly (Tassort x Sutton Forest {Pierro})
The promising Diacon (Tassort) will be making her second start at Gosford for trainer Bjorn Baker on Saturday. She ran a solid fourth as favourite on debut on the same track, and looks a good chance in this event.

Diacon is the fifth foal from Sutton Forest (Pierro), who was a winer at 1400 metres on the track. Sutton Forest is a daughter of Pinezero (Danzero), who was a four-time winner who was successful in the Listed Silver Jubilee Stakes, and the Listed Quezette Stakes.
Since producing Diacon, Sutton Forest has left a yearling filly by Flying Artie, and she foaled a Sejardan colt in September this year.
Diacon was withdrawn from the 2024 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.
