Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two runners by Lonhro and Too Darn Hot (GB) chase maiden success at Taree on Friday.

Taree, Race 2, 1.50pm AEDT, Adam Nixon Memorial Country Boosted Maiden Handicap, $30,000, 1000m

Fannoir, 3-year-old filly (Lonhro x Virgo {Zoustar})

The Rodney Northam-trained Fannoir (Lonhro) makes her debut at Taree on Friday after making a name for herself at the trials, winning them impressively at Scone back last April, and more recently last month at Tamworth.

The well-bred filly is out of the two-time winning Zoustar mare Virgo, and her third dam was the Group 1 Railway Handicap winning mare Imananabaa (Anabaa {USA}).

She has some beautiful pedigree influences throughout her page including Zabeel (NZ), More Than Ready (USA), Danzig (USA), Redoute’s Choice, and Halo (USA).

Virgo has recently produced a yearling colt by Daumier, and was served again by the same stallion in September.

Fannoir was purchased by Rod Northam Racing for $30,000 from the 2024 Inglis May Yearling Sale.

Taree, Race 5, 3.40pm AEDT, J&L Cross Electrical And Air Conditioning Super Maiden Handicap, $50,000, 1250m

Warm Front, 3-year-old gelding (Too Darn Hot (GB) x Wickedness (USA) {War Front {USA}})

The Nacim Dilmi-trained Warm Front (Too Darn Hot {GB}) makes his third start at Taree on Friday over 1250 metres. His form doesnt look great on paper, but he looks well placed to be competitive in the hands of Zac Wadick.

Warm Front is the last foal out of Wickedness (USA) (War Front {USA}), who was a winner over 1700 metres in America, she has left three winners at stud.

Wickedness is a half-sister Alec’s Moon (Malibu Moon {USA}) who was a Listed winner and also left a Listed winner. Warm Front’s second dam Bello Cielo (USA) (Conquistador Cielo {USA}) who was placed in the G1 Hollywood Oaks.

Warm Front was purchased by Sledmere Stud and Cangon for $60,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, and was then re-sold at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, where he was purchased by Domeland for $180,000.
