Since the release of the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale catalogue on November 10, 2025, several yearlings set to go under the hammer on the Gold Coast have experienced significant pedigree updates. Ahead of their entry into the ring, we take a look at whose page has fresh appeal for buyers and vendors alike.
Lot 20 - Written Tycoon x Acing Shamrock (Fastnet Rock), colt - on account of Yulong
This colt’s family hail from all over the world, but his pedigree update comes closest to home with three-quarter-brother Hedged (Capitalist). A 5-year-old now in the care of Gavin Bedggood, Hedged debuted as a 2-year-old and has been a city and stakes performer ever since. This past spring, he has never been far away from recording a seventh win, placing twice, including at Listed level, and being beaten just two lengths in a Group 3.

It was on Boxing Day that Hedged finally got his stakes win in the Listed Christmas Stakes, putting a good two and a half lengths on runner-up Nadal (Xtravagant {NZ}) to stake his claim. The win took his prizemoney over the $800,000 barrier, and he lines up in the G3 Standish Handicap this Saturday in the hopes of doubling his black-type total.
Lot 542 - Hitotsu x Minamya (Fr) (Makfi {GB}), colt - on account of Arrowfield Stud
This colt from the first crop of triple Group 1 hero Hitotsu hails from a strong Aga Khan family, and that success has continued with half-sister Verona Rose (Castelvecchio). Winner of the G3 Kembla Grange Classic last season at just her third start, the then 3-year-old put on a gallant performance to finish fourth in the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes behind Treasurethe Moment (Alabama Express).

Back as a 4-year-old, she wasn’t beaten far in two runs at Group 3 level, including nabbing second in the G3 Tibbie Stakes, and was sent south at the beginning of November to take on the $350,000 Inglis Bracelet. Carrying joint top weight in the field, the mare scored herself a first price of just shy of $200,000, turning the tables on Tibbie winner Oh Diamond Lil (So You Think {NZ}) and beating G1 Australasian Oaks second Sweltering (Too Darn Hot {GB}).
Lot 905 - Ole Kirk x The Quick One (Fastnet Rock), colt - on account of Westbury Stud
From the family of Growing Empire, this colt already has four half siblings to be winners on the track, and the most prolific of those is now 4-year-old Gin A Tonic (Better Than Ready), who had five wins when the catalogue went to print. Third in the G3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic as a 2-year-old, the gelding has always proven he has city class and above for trainer Bevan Laming, and he enjoyed a profitable spring in his first trip south to Victoria.

A winner at Moonee Valley in late October, Gin A Tonic followed that up with a cool frontrunning effort to take out the $130,000 Geoff Whiffin Sprint at Cranbourne, carrying the top weight in the field before his apprentice jockey’s claim.
Fast forward four weeks to the Saturday before Christmas and he scored again in the $175,000 Magic Millions Vic 3YO & 4YO Classic to book his ticket back to the Gold Coast for January. In the process, he beat home Listed winner Stay Focused (Cosmic Force) and juvenile Group 3 winner Recuperato (Farnan). There’s the chance of another update to come shortly if he runs during the Magic Millions carnival in the next fortnight.
