Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two 3-year-olds by Snitzel and Graff are chasing maiden success at Werribee on Monday.

Privateer, 3-year-old filly (Snitzel x Girandola {Medaglia D’Oro {USA}})

The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Privateer (Snitzel) makes her second start at Werribee on Monday over 1114 metres. The beautifully bred filly disappointed when running ninth on debut back in August, but after a break and a couple of jump-outs she looks ready to roll resuming.

Privateer is out of the unraced Medaglia D’Oro (USA) mare Girandola, she is very well-bred being a half-sister to the Group 1 winner and stallion Invader and the Hong Kong Group 2 winner Not Listenin’tome (Dylan Thomas {Ire}).

Girandola in recent times has left a yearling colt by St Mark’s Basillica (Fr), and was due to foal to Paddington (GB) last spring.

Privateer was purchased by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) for $650,000 from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Incontestable, 3-year-old gelding (Graff x Certitude {Not A Single Doubt})

The Mark and Levi Kavanagh-trained Incontestable (Graff) makes his debut at Werribee on Monday over 1014 metres. The gelding who is by the in-form Graff has looked handy placing twice at the Flemington jump-outs.

Incontestable is out of Certitude (Not A Single Doubt), she was a winner as a juvenile and ran fourth in the R. Listed Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Stakes. She has left three winners including the 14-time winner Parko (Smart Missile).

Certitude is also a half-sister to the handy stayer Bondeiger (War Pass {USA}), who was a seven-time winner, and his biggest wins were in the G3 Launceston Cup and the G3 Lord Reims Stakes.

Certitude since producing Incontestable, has left a 2-year-old colt by Graff and a yearling colt by Tiger Of Malay before she sadly died.

Incontestable was originally purchased by Peter & Peta Gray from the 2024 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale for $2,000, before being purchased for $40,000 by Thoroughbred Solutions at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YO & 3YO In Training Sale.

Looking Back

Meet Me Halfway (Zousain) - Ran a nice third at Warrnambool, she is getting closer to a well deserved win.

Tam Na Ghar (NZ) (Ardrossan) - Ran a solid third on debut at the Sunshine Coast.

Kurithea (Maurice {Jpn}) - Ran a very strong second resuming, she was unlucky not to win and a win is not far away.
