Pedigree Boosters: Inglis Classic Yearling Sale

4 min read
Ahead of the 2026 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, we have identified four yearlings whose pedigrees have received black-type or metropolitan updates over the past couple of months, potentially increasing their value and certainly enhancing their profile.

The catalogue for the 2026 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale was released on 16 November 2025. Since that time, a number of yearlings set to pass through the ring at Inglis Riverside have had their pedigrees enhanced, an important consideration for both vendors and buyers alike.

Lot 34 – Star Turn x Giovanina (Hinchinbrook), colt – on account of Vinery Stud

A colt with plenty of Hong Kong appeal is Lot 34, by Star Turn who has had four winners in the region this term. He’s familiar to Hong Kong owners as the sire of G3 Sha Tin Vase winner Cordyceps Six.

This colt is closely related to the promising 4-year-old Lucky Sam Gor (Press Statement), who has won his two most recent starts in January and February for trainer Mark Newnham.

Further to that, his dam is by Hinchinbrook, who has thrived as a damsire in Hong Kong, most notably with Group 1 winner Invincible Sage (Thronum) and Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Helios Express (Toronado {Ire}) both out of his daughters.

Lot 91 - Pride Of Dubai x Jaameelati (I Am Invincible), filly - on account of Eureka Stud

A filly from the family of red-hot 2-year-olds turned exciting 3-year-olds My Gladiola (I Am Invincible) and Bellazaine (Zousain), this lot received another close update thanks to juvenile Confederation (Wootton Bassett {GB}), who is a half-brother to her dam Jaameelati (I Am Invincible), out of the Listed Mode Plate winner Pretty Fast (Not A Single Doubt).

Confederation first attracted attention with an eye-catching trial third behind $1 million Golden Gift third Plagiarism (Written By) ahead of his debut in last weekend’s G3 Canonbury Stakes. Straight into stakes company at his first start is always a good sign, and the colt put on a gallant performance to finish third to stablemate Hidrix (Extreme Choice). There’s still time for him to earn his way into the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes on March 21, and it’s an excellent positive sign for buyers to see this family continue to turn out early speed.

Lot 207 - Artorius x Mistress Of Doom (Domesday), filly - on account of Twin Hills Stud

This filly already boasts a number of exciting black-type members of her close family - particularly as her dam is a three-quarter-sister in blood to G1 Coolmore Classic victress Daysee Doom (Domesday), and is a full sister to Listed Boulder Cup winner Villeins, as well as a half to Listed Lex Piper Stakes winner Too Soon (Charge Forward) who was unbeaten in 2025. The page was further enriched not longer after the catalogue went to print in November, courtesy of another full relation to her dam, Simply.

Simply was a five-time winner when the catalogue was published, but he took his racing to the next level on November 22 when finishing strongly to win the Listed AJ Scahill Stakes at Ascot. The win pushed his earnings over the $380,000 mark including bonuses - a solid effort for a horse who rose through the ranks steadily in Western Australia. The veteran now of 27 starts, he has finished no worse than fourth in 17 of them.

Lot 208 – Sandbar x Misty Brook (Hinchinbrook), filly – on account of Kooringal Stud

Closely related to G1 George Ryder Stakes winner Veight (Grunt {NZ}) who resumed on Saturday with a third in the G3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes behind Tom Kitten (Harry Angel {Ire}), this filly is the second foal of winning mare Misty Brook (Hinchinbrook).

Misty Brook is a three-quarter-sister to dual Group 3 winner Neena Rock (Fastnet Rock) courtesy of Misty Brook’s sire Hinchinbrook being a son of Fastnet Rock, and the pair being out of the same mare Feminine Wiles (USA) (Miesque’s Son {USA}).

Neena Rock is the dam of Veight, who also ran second in the G2 Australia Stakes two starts ago. This is the family of Grade 1 winner and successful sire Quiet American (USA).

Sandbar, sire of this filly, enjoyed a fresh winner on Saturday thanks to his first crop 3-year-old gelding Gazz who won at Morphettville. He is also the sire of former boom juvenile Shaggy who won his first three in succession at two, and most recently placed in Sydney in late January behind Albany Road (Exceed And Excel) who in turn has won his last three in succession.
