Wednesday’s Magic Millions Digital Sale saw 24 lots sold for a gross of $195,100 at the close of bidding, with a clearance rate of 60%.
Podcast (Microphone) topped the sale at $85,000. She is a half-sister to Big Sky (Bivouac), the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes favourite.
Ryan Hill Racing was the leading vendor selling all three of his lots for $28,000.
Big Sky’s half-sister tops the sale
Bidding was fierce for Podcast (Microphone), a young winning mare with huge residual value. She is a half-sister to Big Sky (Bivouac) the current favourite for the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes which runs on February 21. Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, Big Sky is unbeaten in two starts including an impressive last start victory in the G3 Chairman’s Stakes.
Podcast, his 4-year-old older sister, won two of her 14 starts, and her sire Microphone is a son of Exceed And Excel, as is Big Sky’s sire Bivouac. With 34 bids on Podcast, she sold to Hall of Fame Bloodstock for $85,000.

Big Sky and Podcast are out of four-time winning mare Zoom By (Red Dazzler) whose 3-year-old filly Idleonby (Spirit Of Boom) was a winner last season at two. Zoom By is a half-sister to Listed winner Firenza (Kenny’s Best Pal) and this is the family of Group 3 winners Written Beauty (Written Tycoon), Hi World (High Chaparral {Ire}) and Immortal Love (Snitzel). Listed winning sire Ducimus also features on the catalogue page.
Ryan Hill Racing’s 100% clearance rate
With three racehorses to offer at this week’s Magic Millions Digital Sale, Ryan Hill Racing of Baldivis in Western Australia achieved a 100% clearance rate. His 4-year-old mare Marines Cry (Long Leaf) topped the draft with 26 bids taking her to $13,000. She was purchased by Brock Lewthwaite, who has gained a mare with two wins on the board from 11 starts.
Marines Cry was placed at Ascot last start on January 31. She is out of a winning daughter of Listed Bunbury Cup winner Street Value (Street Cry {Ire}).

“We're very happy with the results. The team was pushing on the phone chasing buyers to get a good result for us and it showed. She is a good filly but her sale price exceeded our expectations,” Hill said.
Her stablemate, 4-year-old mare Smart Shadow (Shalaa {Ire}) made $8000 to the bid of C H Doherty. She is a daughter of tough Brisbane racemare Smartypy (Smart Missile) who won six races and placed in the Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes.

Last start maiden winning 3-year-old filly Warning Label (Harry Angel {Ire}) was purchased by E Tai for $7000. She is from the family of Group 2 winner De Lightning Ridge (Tale Of The Cat {USA}) and Pierro-sired pair of G2 Percy Sykes Stakes winner Paris Dior and Group 3 winner Queen Of Dragons.
