Flight Of Power swoops home to trial win

The first juvenile race on the Hawkesbury card on Tuesday was won by Flight Of Power (Wild Ruler) for Bjorn Baker. Having his third lifetime trial, the gelding jumped well to the front half of the pack and fought stablemate Malua Bay (Pierro) to the line, prevailing by a short neck.

Bjorn Baker Racing, Clarke Bloodstock (FBAA), and Ridgmont paid $80,000 to acquire Flight Of Power from Pepper Tree Farm’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale draft. He is a half-brother to stakes performer The Art Of Flying (Flying Artie) out of Canary (Hard Spun {USA}), a half-sister to Champion Sprinter Yell (Anabaa {USA}) and Sung (Anabaa {USA}), dam of Microphone. Canary delivered a colt by Ozzmosis in 2025 before visiting Artorius.

Blueblood Mailman impresses on debut

The well-bred Mailman (I Am Invincible) put on a strong showing at his debut trial at Hawkesbury on Tuesday morning. Trained by John O’Shea and Tom Charlton, the juvenile colt jumped straight to the front and extended his lead in the home straight to win by a length and two thirds over fellow debutant Hitch (Yes Yes Yes).

The first foal from G1 Coolmore Classic winner Krone (Eurozone), Mailman passed in at the Gold Coast and has been retained to race by breeder Rosemont Stud as part of a syndicate. He remains amongst nominations for the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes.

James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership and Tony Fung Colts combined to pay $1.2 million for Krone’s second foal, a colt by Snitzel, at the Gold Coast this year, and the mare foaled a Wootton Bassett (GB) filly in 2025 before visiting Switzerland.

Coco Affair remains unbeaten in third trial

Mailman’s stablemate Coco Affair (Home Affairs) has yet to debut, but the filly has now won three straight trials in a convincing fashion, including her latest at Hawkesbury on Tuesday. The 2-year-old put on a big finish in the home straight to put a length and a third on Dashing Splendour (Harry Angel {Ire}) with stablemate Bodmin Moor (Cool Aza Beel {NZ}) in third.

Coco Affair is a half to G3 Blue Diamond Preview (fillies)-placed Written Swoosh (Written Tycoon) out of Cocoa Doll (More Than Ready {USA}), a winning half-sister to Away Game (Snitzel) and Modern Wonder (Snitzel). Cocoa Doll was served by Switzerland in the spring.

Satono Glow delivers trial treble for O’Shea and Charlton

Debutant Satono Glow (NZ) (Satono Aladdin {Jpn}) was another eyecatching juvenile winner for the O’Shea and Charlton stable at Hawkesbury’s trial morning on Tuesday. The filly stalked early leader Lava Flow (Too Darn Hot {GB}) before sweeping past him in the final furlong to win by two thirds of a length.

She is a half-sister to multiple Group performer Kitty Flash (NZ) (Ace High) out of Electrode (NZ) (Pins), a half-sister to the stakes winners So Wotif (NZ) (Iffraaj {GB}) and Bonniegirl (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}). Electrode visited Ace High in 2025.

Wild Ruler filly strong through the line at Doomben

Metric (Wild Ruler) stepped out for her second career trial at Doomben on Tuesday and she hit the line a lot stronger to register a win for Kelly Schweida. The 2-year-old filly beat stablemate Threeeyedwitch (Dirty Work) by half a length with five lengths back to the rest of the field.

Metric passed in at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and is raced by her trainer in partnership with breeder Glenlogan Park, who will offer an In The Congo half-brother at the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale as Lot 302. Metric is the first foal out of five-time winner and multiple Listed-placed Monteluna (Rubick), who visited Pierata in the spring.

Olivoni a big improver in second trial

Later on the Doomben card on Tuesday morning, Chris and Corey Munce’s Olivoni (Zoustar) showed strong improvement from a debut trial to win her heat. The filly put away stablemate Langan (Wild Ruler) by two and three quarter lengths in the 840-metre contest to win.
