Winx colt withdrawn from Inglis Easter
On Saturday, Inglis announced that Lot 187, the Snitzel colt from Horse Of The Year Winx (Street Cry {Ire}) would be withdrawn from the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, after he sustained a setback in his preparation. “The welfare of our beautiful colt is of paramount importance to us and the veterinary advice is that he will need a period of time to recover appropriately from his setback,” part-owner Peter Tighe said.
“We will give him all the time that he needs and thus he will be unable to take his place in the sale. He is in great hands with the team at Coolmore and we look forward to his race career once he has made a full recovery.”
He is the second foal for Winx, whose first foal, unraced 3-year-old filly Quinceanera (Pierro), sold for $10 million at this sale in 2024. “It’s obviously disappointing for the industry as a whole that we won’t be seeing Winx’s Snitzel colt at Easter, based purely off the amazing scenes and theatre his big sister generated at Inglis Easter at Riverside Stables in 2024,” Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch said.
“We wish the connections, with whom we have forged a fantastic relationship with over the past few years, all the very best with their beautiful colt and hopefully he goes on to have a successful race career.”
First winner for Tiger Of Malay
First season sire Tiger Of Malay celebrated his first winner on Friday night at Canterbury when 2-year-old gelding Forest King won on debut for trainers John O’Shea and Tom Charlton. He won by 1.2 lengths over Bjorn Baker-trained Euripedes (Street Boss {USA}) and Chris Waller-trained Affari (Home Affairs).
Tiger Of Malay, a son of Extreme Choice, won the G2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes, training on to win the G3 Up & Coming Stakes at three. He has also sired stakes placed Momentslikethese.

Getta Good Feeling wins Inglis Sprint
G2 Wakeful Stakes winning 3-year-old filly Getta Good Feeling (So You Think {NZ}) has resumed with victory in Saturday’s $1 million Inglis Sprint at Flemington over 1200 metres for trainer Danny O’Brien and owner Pinecliff Racing. She takes her earnings over $1 million.
“She’s a high-calibre horse and we’ve always had a massive opinion of her. To be honest, if you stopped the Oaks at the 200 metre mark, she was probably the form filly of the spring,” stable representative Matt Harrington said.
“She’s always run well first-up over 1200. That is the hardest one she has been in. She was smothered up and she really let down strong. Probably won’t see her over 2500 metres again but the over a mile or 2000, the world is her oyster.”
She was a $400,000 weanling into a $525,000 yearling. TTR wrote about her pinhook journey, along with unbeaten Autumn Glow (The Autumn Sun) here.
Waller's Birdman set for Australian Cup
The G1 Australian Cup is on the agenda for Chris Waller-trained Birdman (Ire) (Free Eagle {Ire}) after he won Saturday’s G2 Blamey Stakes. “He arrived in Australia about a year-and-a-half or two years ago with good credentials and a couple of wins, including the Queen's Vase,” stable representative Darren Beadman said.
“The owners were hoping to aim for the Melbourne Cup. He's been very consistent. It was a great run in the Caulfield Cup last year, so I guess, without speaking to Chris, the Australian Cup will probably be the ideal type of race for him.”
Winner of his first two starts in Ireland including the Listed Yeats Stakes, Birdman has won twice more in Australia to take his lifetime record to four wins from 18 starts with earnings over $740,000.
Stakes double for Ghibellines
With Noble Knight (NZ) taking out the Listed Dunedin Gold Cup, one race prior to the G3 White Robe Lodge Stakes, it was White Robe Lodge’s recently deceased sire Ghibellines who sired a stakes race double with Joseph Waldron-trained Cluedo Lane (NZ).
“A big thanks to Michael Stokes (owner) who sent him our way as for a little stable like ours that is just getting going, having a horse like him is a huge thrill. Akshay (Balloo) is incredibly underrated, is great on horses that go forward and that suits ours well. It doesn’t get much better than this as it is a huge thrill,” said Waldron.
Bred and raced by Stokes, Cluedo Lane took his record to four wins from 23 starts. Noble Knight and Cluedo Lane became stakes winners number ten and eleven for Ghibellines. Ghibellines had a treble on the card with Trader (NZ).

“I think that (Gore Guineas) is possibly where we will head. We will give her a freshen-up and go to Riverton, which is pretty handy (from Winton base). If she goes well we might head to Riccarton a week after and then she will go out for a well-deserved break,” Price said.
With earnings over NZ$200,000 from her three wins, Hello Hayley was passed in at the sales and privately purchased by her ownership group. Her dam, Hayley Grace (NZ) (Thorn Park), is a winning half-sister to Group 2 winner Bak Da Chief (NZ) (Chief Bearhart {Can}).

Coolmore has bought 1100 acres of land from Shadwell Farm in Kentucky for close to US$50 million (AU$70.3 million), according to a source. TDN understands the deal has been completed.

Melham to lead Shergar Cup
The 25th running of the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup will break new ground when run as a World Pool fixture. The meeting, which will be staged at Ascot on Saturday, August 8, will also for the first time feature a team from the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
Led by Vincent Ho, the rider of the legendary Golden Sixty, the team will consist of three riders licensed to ride in Hong Kong and will replace the Asia team.
Australian jockey Jamie Melham, who made history in 2025 when becoming the first female to complete the Caulfield Cup-Melbourne Cup double aboard Half Yours, will captain the Rest of the World team. She will also act as a global event ambassador for the Shergar Cup.
“This will be the 25th running of the Shergar Cup at Ascot and it's exciting to see another evolution of the event, with World Pool and Hong Kong Jockey Club involvement for the first time,” said Nick Smith, director of racing at Ascott. “As ever we are hugely grateful to Dubai Duty Free for their support of this event, and of British and Irish racing as a whole.”
Coolmore buy into Nysos
Coolmore and partners have acquired an interest in GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile winner Nysos (Nyquist). Upon his retirement from racing, the colt will stand at Ashford Stud in 2027, the farm announced Friday.
After a 10.5 length Santa Anita romp in October 2023, Nysos then picked up two straight graded stakes wins before enduring a significant break in training from February 2024 through to May 2025. He returned in a thrilling edition of the GI Churchill Downs Stakes on the Kentucky Derby undercard, winding up dead-heating for second behind Mindframe (Constitution).
It would be his only defeat of the year as Nysos would finish the season on a four-race win streak that culminated in a win in the GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Del Mar in November and the GII Laffit Pincay, Jr. Stakes in December. He most recently ran second to globe-trotting superstar Forever Young (Jpn) (Real Steel {Jpn}) in the G1 Saudi Cup.
Following the race, trainer Bob Baffert noted, “We'll take [Nysos] back home, and just freshen him up and point for the Breeders' Cup Classic. I've brought good horses here, and I think Nysos, hopefully, is the best one I've brought here.”
In addition to Nysos, Coolmore also owns his dam, Zetta Z (Bernardini), whom they acquired for a sales-topping US$2 million (AU$2.8 million) in foal to Cyberknife at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton February Mixed Sale.
