Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Looking to Sunday, there's a smart son of The Autumn Sun looking to go one better at Muswellbrook than his debut run, and down at Stony Creek, a Savabeel gelding stretches out in distance to shed his maiden tag.
Muswellbrook, Race 3, 2.05pm AEDT, TAB Showcase Super Maiden Plate, $50,000, 1280m
Olympian, 3-year-old gelding (The Autumn Sun x You’re So Good (NZ) {Savabeel})
The Paul Messara and Leah Gavranich-trained Olympian (The Autumn Sun) makes his second start at Muswellbrook on Sunday over 1280 metres.
He was very good running second at Scone on debut and with natural improvement looks a good each-way chance in this maiden event.

Olympian is the fifth live-foal out of the Listed winning and Group 1-placed Savabeel mare You’re So Good (NZ). She has a strong pedigree and some of the Group winners on her page include the dual Group 1 winner Melito (Redoute’s Choice) and the dual Group 3 winner and sire Pariah.
In recent years, You’re So Good, has left a 2-year-old colt named Savvy Prince (Palace Pier {GB}), a yearling filly by Hitotsu, and was served by Vandeek (GB) last spring.

Snobbery (NZ), 3-year-old gelding (Savabeel x Hoity Toity (NZ) {Makfi {GB}})
The Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained Snobbery (NZ) (Savabeel) makes his third start at Stony Creek on Sunday over 2100 metres. He disappointed on debut when running seventh at Moe, but was solid when running third at Stony Creek over the mile on February 15, and the step up in distance looks ideal.

Snobbery has a very strong pedigree, he is out of the Makfi (GB) mare Hoity Toity (NZ), who is a full sister to Eleonora (NZ) (Makfi {GB}) who was a dual Group 3 winner on both sides of the Tasman, she then went on to produce the Listed winning juvenile Ethereal Star (Snitzel). A half-sibling is the dual Group 2 winner and Group 3 winner Supera (NZ) (High Chaparral {Ire}).
This is also the family of the Champion staying mare Ethereal (NZ) (Rhythm {NZ}) who won the G1 Melbourne Cup, G1 Caulfield Cup, G1 BMW Stakes and the G1 Queensland Oaks.
In recent years, Hoity Toity has left a 2-year-old colt by Savabeel, a yearling colt by Savabeel, a filly foal by Savabeel and was served by Super Seth last spring.
Snobbery was purchased for NZ$130,000 by Busuttin Young Racing at the 2024 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale.
Looking Back:
Paradoxium (Extreme Choice) - Soared home to win his way into the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes.
Martist (Trapeze Artist) - Second by a short neck, just met one better.
Kokatahi (NZ) (Farnan) - Finished fifth, never really a threat in the race.
