Inglis have confirmed that Generosity (Divine Prophet), the winner of the G2 Challenge Stakes last Saturday, will be amongst the catalogue for the 2026 Inglis Chairman’s Sale, which will take place on Thursday, May 7. The 5-year-old mare took her prizemoney into seven figures with her Group 2 win and has Group 1 goals ahead of her date with destiny.
Giving her all
One of four stakes winners for her sire Divine Prophet, Generosity debuted as a 2-year-old and flew home from the rear of the field to finish third in metropolitan company for then trainer Simon Miller. Since then, she has spent the last three seasons running at stakes level and quickly established herself as one of Western Australia’s most promising young horses; in 23 starts for Miller, she finished further back than fourth on just three occasions.

From her 3-year-old spring, she ran stakes placings behind the likes of multiple stakes winner Keshi Boom (Spirit Of Boom) and even got the upper hand on eventual $5 million The Quokka winner Jokers Grin (Maschino) when they met in metropolitan company.
Last autumn, she struck at stakes level for the first time in the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic over 1400 metres, defeating then 11-time winner Bonjoy (Maschino).
This earned her a shot at the Quokka, where she ran a highly credible third - beaten just two thirds of a length by Jokers Grin, and herself beating previous Quokka victor Overpass (Vancouver).

At her next start, Generosity was sent south to the G1 Goodwood Handicap where she showed her trademark speed from the rear of the field to finish fifth by a length and three quarters behind Reserve Bank (Capitalist), beating the likes of Group 1 winners Charm Stone (Charm Spirit {Ire}) and Climbing Star (NZ) (Zoustar).
Rising to the Challenge
B2B Thoroughbreds and Belmont Bloodstock Agency’s Damon Gabbedy (FBAA) combined to source Generosity off the track after her Goodwood performance.

“We found her just through the pedigree,” said B2B Thoroughbreds’ Riccardo Surace Jnr. “We were lucky enough to negotiate a deal for her, and originally the idea had been to send her to stud immediately, but due to the timing, we instead decided to send her to Chris Waller. She showed us a lot from the start, and the rest is history.”

Transferred to the care of Chris Waller last spring to chase eastern state riches, Generosity ran third to Joliestar (Zoustar) in a highly competitive edition of G2 The Shorts, before being beaten less than two lengths by Rothfire (Rothesay) in the G3 Sydney Stakes.

“She is only getting better,” said Surace Jnr. “Her run in The Shorts was fantastic. The track was a little too hard in the Sydney Stakes so we didn’t see the best of her that day, but then she spelled unbelievably well at Segenhoe Stud and has improved three or more lengths this preparation.”
At her resumption this autumn, she fought out a strong edition of the G2 Challenge Stakes to claim her win, beating four Group 1 winners including G1 Golden Slipper Stakes victress Marhoona (Snitzel) - carrying 2.5kg less than Generosity - and $15 million The Everest victor Giga Kick (Scissor Kick). She is only the third mare to win the race in the last 10 years, and the eighth this side of the millennium.

The honour roll she joins includes Villa Verde (Not A Single Doubt), the dam of multiple stakes winner and Group 1-performed My Gladiola (I Am Invincible) and G1 Lightning Stakes winner Snitzerland (Snitzel), dam of G3 Maribyrnong Plate winner Hard Landing (All Too Hard), as well as Champion Sire Snitzel, Hay List (Statue Of Liberty {USA}), and Nature Strip (Nicconi).
“I was at Randwick on Saturday to see her win, she is a very pretty mare and obviously exceptionally quick,” said Inglis Bloodstock Sales Manager Harry Bailey. “She will be hard to beat in the Galaxy and there is a fantastic program of races for her after that, including the TJ Smith and a series of Group 1 sprints in Brisbane.

“Mares like this don’t come on the market very often and she makes a huge amount of appeal as a race filly and breeding prospect.”
After the race, Waller said that he never lost faith in her and he had respect for the form she brought over from Perth. He has set the mare for the G1 Galaxy Handicap on March 21 as her next assignment to add all important Group 1 form to her resume.

“Generosity is a quality type with a lovely attitude and a fantastic horse to train,” he added. “She has excellent natural speed and as her record shows, she is very versatile. With more racing still to come, she presents as a very exciting prospect over the next 12 months.”
A commercial opportunity
Generosity is a half-sister to dual Listed winner Midnight In Tokyo (Kobayashi), whose seven wins include metropolitan performances as a juvenile, out of winning Casino Prince mare Orabelle, a half-sister to G3 Gimcrack Stakes winner Bel Merci (Extreme Choice), who was third in the G3 Peter Le Grand Stakes two starts ago, and Listed winner and eight-time victor All Too Royal (All Too Hard). Orabelle is out of the G1 Robert Sangster Stakes winner Bel Mer (Bel Esprit), with black-type winners stretching back to her third dam.
The close family also includes dual Group 3 winner Sylvia’s Mother (Snitzel), dam of Wise Inlaw (Wootton Bassett {GB}) who ran third in the Listed Exford Plate two starts ago and was fourth in the G3 Zeditave Stakes in February, and four-time winner Surprise Honey (Extreme Choice) who posted two of those wins in the spring.

The decision to offer Generosity at this year’s Inglis Chairman’s Sale is one with the business forefront of mind, and Surace Jnr believes that the mare still has plenty more to give on the track for a new owner before she heads to the broodmare barn.
“It is the right time to offer her as she is still on her way up,” he said. “I am a big believer that the granddaughters of champions make excellent broodmares, and that is certainly what has happened with the dam, Orabelle. She is one quite out of the box - she hasn’t been bred to the top stallions in the country by any means, and she has produced some really nice horses. The half-sister to Generosity is a very good horse as well.”

Divine Prophet’s sire Choisir has developed a strong profile as a broodmare sire, with his daughters producing 842 individual winners, including 36 stakes winners, six of whom have struck at Group 1 level.

“I really hope that she gets into the hands of a good breeder, because she's the most glamorous looking horse you have ever seen,” said Surace Jnr. “Hopefully you will have more fun with her as a racehorse, before you go on to breed a champion.
“We owe a lot of her success with us to Chris, so hopefully the new owner keeps her with Chris, as he has done an amazing job so far. We are of the firm belief that there’s certainly a Group 1 in her within the next 12 months.”

Last year, fillies and mares offered off the track at the Chairman’s Sale averaged $879,222, highlighted by top lots Bella Nipotina (Pride Of Dubai), selling for $4.2 million, and Amelia’s Jewel (Siyouni {Fr}), selling for $3.8 million.

Bailey noted that the sale has enjoyed a banner weekend with the offspring of graduates performing across state lines.
“It was a big weekend for the Chairman’s Sale,” he said “The dams of G1 Newmarket Handicap winner Caballus, G2 Reisling Stakes winner Chayan, and Group 3 winner Pinito were all sourced at Chairman’s, while G2 Todman Stakes winner Paradoxium was sold in utero through the sale.”
Entries for the 2026 Inglis Chairman’s Sale close soon.
