The catalogue for the 2026 Inglis HTBA Yearling Sale has been released, featuring 215 yearlings who will be offered on April 19 at the Riverside Stables sale complex in Warwick Farm. A smaller catalogue than recent editions, the sale promises to pack the same value punch as its predecessors.

A sale on the up

The 2025 edition of the HTBA sale saw a lift across all metrics from the previous year, and the results of the 2026 sales season so far should be sufficient to give vendors, buyers, and the Inglis team confidence ahead of the one-day sale.

While the catalogue has shrunk from a five-year peak of 358 in 2021, it is still a sale seen as valuable to attend to many vendors. Thirty five vendors have engaged with the 2026 edition of the sale, and the catalogue has been heavily supported by Widden Stud, with a draft of 34, Riversdale, with 19 in the catalogue, and Vinery Stud, who have a draft of 18 entered.

Many of Australia’s leading producers have also engaged yearlings, including drafts from Newgate Farm, Segenhoe Stud, Glenbeigh Farm, Goodwood Farm, Kingstar Farm, and Stonehouse Thoroughbreds.

Variety is key

Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch was keen to impress that variety is key to the HTBA sale’s continued success. There will be the progeny of 81 stallions on offer in the April sale, eight of which are first season sires, including a colt by Anamoe, whose offspring have been highly sought after this sales season. The colt in question is a half-brother to last week’s G3 Kembla Grange Classic third placegetter Profoundly (Farnan).

There will also be representatives for in form stallions such as All Too Hard, Home Affairs, Russian Revolution, So You Think (NZ), Trapeze Artist, and the current leading sire in Australia by winners, Capitalist, as well as a colt by Extreme Choice.

Such is the spread of sires in the catalogue that Trapeze Artist is the most represented, with 11. This diversity is, for Hutch, a great strength.

“We have a broad cross-section of stallions and vendors represented in the catalogue, which is pleasing,’’ he said.

“This sale gives buyers further access to commercial yearlings, whether buyers are still looking for horses to breeze in the spring, trial and trade, or just race.’’ - Sebastian Hutch

“The Inglis Yearling Sales Series has been strong to date this year and it has been really competitive for quality stock, so this sale gives buyers further access to commercial yearlings, whether buyers are still looking for horses to breeze in the spring, trial and trade, or just race for what is a fantastic pool of prizemoney in Australia.”

Value at all levels

From the catalogued yearlings, 190 are BOBS eligible and 30 are eligible for a combination of VOBIS Sires, VOBIS Silver, QTIS, or Racing Rewards SA.

“Another significant advantage of buying at the HTBA Sale is the discounted rate of qualifying for the $12 million Inglis Race Series, with the cost of sign-up 50% less than for the select yearling sales,” said Hutch.

“The value sign up still gives buyers full access to the Inglis Race Series which includes the $5 million Xtra Bonus Series, the $1 million Pink Bonus Series, and the $2 million Inglis Millennium.’’

Recent graduates of the sale include stakes winner and $600,000 earner Boston Rocks (Hellbent), G3 Proud Miss Stakes winner Cleo Cat (American Pharoah {USA}), G3 Wenona Girl Stakes winner Tintookie (Winning Rupert), and $500,000 earner and multiple Group-performed Shezanalister (Star Turn), all of whom could be purchased for $100,000 or less.

Last year’s sale has already produced four-length debut winner I’m A Beaut (Exceedance), who opened her account on Sunday for Terry Croft and was a $12,000 purchase for her trainer.

Supplementary entries for the sale are still open until April 10, and will be offered at the end of the sale.
