Smartly bred Mr Incredible wins on debut
Trainer Brett Crawford’s first starter Mr Incredible (Toronado {Ire}) was the second leg of a double for jockey Karis Teetan on Sunday night at Sha Tin. Teetan’s other winner was Chris So’s Go Go Go (NZ) (Charm Spirit {Ire}).
“Mr Incredible is a smart little horse, we’ve been doing a lot of work on him – up and down to Conghua – and it seems like he’s taken every trial pretty good, he’s learnt a lot and today was a tough win. He had to dig down and come through a little gap but he’s won nicely,” Teetan told hkjc.com.
Originally sold by Westbury Stud at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $325,000 to TFI, he was re-offered through Inglis Digital as an unraced gelding in June 2025 where Pen Investments bought him for $120,000.
“He’s (Mr Incredible) put up some really good trials, but he’s still a big baby. I didn’t think today was easy for him, he only got a gap in the last 200 metres, but I think he’s a horse with a lot of potential and the owners will have a lot of fun with him. He’s only 3-years-old; he’s got a nice career ahead of him, so we’ll just look after him and take him step by step,” Crawford added.
Mr Incredible’s year older half-brother Prost retired to Aquis Farm in 2025. Winner of the G3 Canonbury Stakes in record time at two, he added the G2 Stan Fox Stakes at three.

Mr Incredible is the fourth winner for city-winning juvenile Samarmeteors (Northern Meteor), a half-sister to G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Samaready (More Than Ready {USA}), dam of G1 Golden Slipper winner Shinzo. She’s also a half-sister to Group 2 winner Night War (General Nediym) and Group 2-placed Samartested (Testa Rossa).
Samarmeteors has a 2-year-old colt Omolong (Extreme Choice) who was bought by Yulong for $850,000 from Baramul Stud’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale draft. She hasn’t had a foal since.
Half to Caballus in rare dead heat
Trainer Francis Liu and jockey Keith Yeung combined for a double with Call Me Sparkle (NZ) (Derryn) and Turquoise Velocity (Zoustar). Turquoise Velocity dead-heated for victory with Manfred Man-trained We Are Hero (Headwater) ridden by Jerry Chau.
“He’s in good form. At the moment, he’s just between 1000 and 1200 metres – he even can step up to 1200 metres,” Lui told scmp.com about Turquoise Velocity. The double took him to 36 wins and equal fifth in the Trainer’s Premiership which is currently led by Caspar Fownes (42 wins) and David Hayes (37) with 34 meetings to go in the season.
“I’m looking for it because I have many young horses who are up and coming, so hopefully they can keep up the condition,” Liu said.
Turquoise Velocity has won three of his four starts, all in Hong Kong, including his last two in succession. The 4-year-old gelding won a trial at Wodonga prior to being exported to Hong Kong.
This pedigree has had a massive upgrade in recent weeks with Turquoise Velocity's half-brother Caballus (I Am Invincible) winning the G1 Newmarket Handicap. The pair’s dam is stakes placed Calming Influence (Commands) who won five races. Second dam Calming (Zeditave) is a Listed winner and this is the family of South African Group 1 winner War Artist (Orpen {USA}).
Turquoise Velocity was sold by Middlebrook Valley Lodge at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale to T Nolen for $150,000, who took him to the Inglis Ready2Race Sale but passed him in. His half-sister by Ole Kirk will be offered by Alma Vale Thoroughbreds as Lot 244 at the upcoming Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
Well backed Smart Golf wins in procession
Backed in from $3.50 to $1.80, trainer Frankie Lor’s Smart Golf (Needs Further) justified the punter’s love by leading from gate to post for jockey Harry Bentley. The 4-year-old gelding debuted in November and has won three of his five starts, including his last two in succession.
“I was a little bit worried, as he went up to Class Three and drew stall 10, because Red Sea likes to lead and he was drawn in stall one,” Lor told scmp.com.
“Today, because of the track bias, leading is not that good. I told Harry that if someone else leads, you can follow them, and when no one wanted to go forward he was able to lead by himself. He’s a big, strong horse, but he’s been a bit tricky. He’s getting better and more relaxed and more smooth. I hope I can get more wins for the owner and I think he could win in Class Two.”

With earnings over HK$2.5 million (AU$455,000), Smart Golf was a $60,000 purchase by John Foote Bloodstock (FBAA) from Armidale Stud’s Magic Millions Tasmania Yearling Sale draft. His year younger half-sister 3-year-old filly Crack The Shutters (Alpine Eagle) was twice Listed placed at two, and recently ran second in both the Listed Tasmania Guineas and Listed Launceston Guineas. She’s won four of her 10 starts with five seconds.
Double for Headwater
Vinery Stud’s Headwater celebrated a double on the card led by We Are Hero, who dead-heated with Turquoise Velocity. He took his record to eight wins from 43 starts. He’s a graduate of the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale which runs at the end of the week, having been sold by Kulani Park to Jason Warren Racing for $125,000 back in 2019.

Jockey Harry Bentley won on Devas Twelve (Headwater) for trainer Chris So, to also celebrate a double on the card with Smart Golf.
“They went so fast in this race – the first sectional was 21.05 seconds and I was afraid he was going to be empty, but maybe the track helped today and I’m really glad he got home,” So told scmp.com about Devas Twelve, who unfortunately bled after the race and will spell.
Devas Twelve is the last foal of Phar Too Fast (Dane Shadow) who won her maiden at the Gold Coast. All her five foals to race are winners including Devas Twelve’s full brother The Wayfarer who took his record to nine wins in early March.
