Pedigree Boosters: Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale

4 min read
Ahead of the 2026 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, we have identified three yearlings whose pedigrees have received black-type or win updates over the past couple of months, potentially increasing their value and certainly enhancing their profile.

Lot 14 – Bivouac x Romantic Era (NZ) (Nadeem), filly – on account of Cornerstone Stud

Bivouac’s oldest crop are 3-year-olds and he celebrated his first Group 1 winner with a record breaking performance in the G1 Golden Rose by Beiwacht during the spring. He took his record to four stakes winners when exciting juvenile Big Sky won the G3 Chairman’s Stakes.

Lot 14 is out of unraced mare Romantic Era (NZ) (Nadeem) who has improved her record as a producer since the catalogue went to print, and now has two winners from as many to race. Her first foal, Deep Emotion (Deep Field) added a second career victory in January.

This yearling filly’s 3-year-old gelded half-brother Zhongxin Koala (Hanseatic) recently won at the Gold Coast for trainer Allan Chau. Romantic Era’s 2-year-old filly has recently been named Shadow Recruit (Portland Sky).

Romantic Era is a half-sister to G2 Waikato Guineas winner The Justice League (NZ) (I Am Invincible) from the family of Kementari (NZ).

Lot 30 – Supido x Sawaary (Artie Schiller {USA}), filly – on account of Mill Park Stud

There’s plenty of juvenile form all around Lot 30, beginning with her sire Supido. Supido had a massive boost to his stud career this summer with Unit Five winning the R.Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic. Mill Park Stud’s Supido filly had an additional juvenile boost with close relation Agrarian Girl (Tassort) winning the Listed Lonhro Plate.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Agrarian Girl requires only one scratching to make the G1 Golden Slipper field on Saturday. She was second at her second start behind G1 Golden Slipper favourite Chayan (I Am Invincible) in the G2 Reisling Stakes.

Agrarian Girl is out of Listed victrix Liwa (Mulaazem), a half-sister to Group 3 winner and G1 Golden Slipper-placed Coleman (Pierata). The stakes winning pair’s unraced half-sister Sawaary (Artie Schiller {USA}) is the dam of Lot 30.

Sawaary’s current juvenile, the filly Aryna (Spirit Of Boom) ran fourth in the Magic Millions SA 2YO Classic recently for trainer Jason Warren. She’s had two starts and is very promising.

This is also the family of successful stallions Rothesay and Canny Lad.

Lot 166 – Finance Tycoon x Calzini (Shamus Award), filly – on account of Kooringal Stud

From the second crop of G3 Maribyrnong Plate and G3 Zeditave Stakes winner Finance Tycoon, who also won the $1 million Showdown at two, Lot 166 is a half-sister to last season’s G1 JJ Atkins Plate-placed Call Da Vinci (Under The Louvre).

The Bevan Laming-trained 3-year-old gelding has been busy this season at three, with four starts in Melbourne including fifth placings in both the G3 Carbine Club Stakes and G2 Sandown Guineas. Most recently, he’s returned to Queensland where he ran a close second to Fabulantes (Star Turn) in the $500,000 QTIS 3YO Jewel last weekend to pick up a decent pay cheque. He looks to be on the improve for the rest of the autumn.

It’s not often that a half-sister to a Group 1 placed horse who is currently racing comes on the market in this sector of the marketplace.

The pair’s winning dam Calzini (Shamus Award) debuted at two, winning her second start when resuming as a spring 3-year-old at the Gold Coast. All her three wins were on the Gold Coast, while she also placed in Melbourne several times. This is the family of Singapore’s Champion 3YO Top Knight (Zoustar) who won four Listed races among his ten career victories.
