Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Three promising types by Spirit Of Boom, Capitalist and Wootton Bassett (GB) chase success across Australia on Saturday.

Eagle Farm, Race 1, 1.38pm AEDT (12.38pm local), Karmo QTIS 2YO Handicap, $85,000, 1000m

On The Clock, 2-year-old gelding (Spirit Of Boom x Chezblack {Foxwedge})

The Liam Birchley-trained On The Clock (Spirit Of Boom) chases his second win at Eagle Farm on Saturday over 1200 metres.

He was a dominant winner by over seven lengths at Toowoomba at his last start late last month, and while this is a higher class, he looks hard to beat from his inside barrier.

On The Clock is the first and sadly the only foal out of the nine-time winner Chezblack (Foxwedge), she is out of the multiple Group 1 placed Glowlamp (Encosta De Lago). This is also the extended family of the outstanding racehorse and successful sire Rock Of Gibraltar (Ire).

On The Clock was purchased by Bloodstock Solutions for $120,000 from the Kenmore Lodge draft at the 2025 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Caulfield, Race 3, 1.10pm AEDT, Listed 2YO Cirka Valley Pearl, $175,000, 1200m

Rich On Bubbles, 2-year-old gelding (Capitalist x Champagne Boom {Spirit Of Boom})

The Ben, Will and JD Hayes-trained Rich On Bubbles (Capitalist) chases his third win from only four starts at Caulfield on Saturday over 1200 metres..

The son of Capitalist has picked up wins at Pakenham and in the valuable Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Murray Bridge at his last start.

Rich On Bubbles is out of the classy Listed Debutant Stakes winner Champagne Boom (Spirit Of Boom), so he is bred to go early. He is also a half-brother to Stoli Bolli (Deep Field) who has been a dual winner and has been Listed placed.

Champagne Boom, in recent times has left an In The Congo yearling colt, an Ozzmosis colt foal, and was served by Extreme Choice last December.

Rich On Bubbles was purchased by Lindsay Park Racing for $200,000 from the draft of Kingstar Farm at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Caulfield, Race 6, 2.55pm AEDT, G3 Orbit Logistics Don Casboult Classic, $200,000, 1200m

Bassett Babe, 3-year-old filly (Wootton Bassett (GB) x Liberty Lover {Rebel Raider})

The exciting Andrew Gluyas-trained Bassett Babe (Wootton Bassett {GB}) chases her third win in a row at Caulfield on Saturday. She has made a great start to her career, winning both starts at Gawler and Morphettville. So while this is a significant rise in class, she looks more than capable of featuring.

Bassett Babe is beautifully bred being out of the dual winner Liberty Lover (Rebel Raider), she has already left the talented G2 Avondale Guineas winner Thedocctoroflove (So You Think {NZ}) who also placed in the G1 New Zealand Derby.

Liberty Lover is a half-sister to the outstanding Dalasan, who won eight races, including four Group races and two Listed races, and was multiple Group 1 placed, and now stands at Riverbank Farm..

She is also a half-sister to the Listed winners Freedom Flame (Ghaiyyath {Ire}) and Party Princess (So You Think {NZ})

Liberty Lover, in recent years has left a 2-year-old gelding named Hunting Hard (Saxon Warrior {Jpn}), a yearling filly by Pinatubo (Ire), and was served by St Mark’s Basilica (Fr) last spring.

Bassett Babe was purchased for $200,000 from the Mill Park draft at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Macdonald Gluyas Racing.

Looking Back:

Olympian (The Autumn Sun) - Was a very impressive winner at Scone, he looks a city class galloper.

Cushioned (Ghaiyyath {Ire}) - Ran an honest race for fourth at Ballarat, she will appreciate more ground.
