Pedigree Boosters: Inglis Easter Yearling Sale

4 min read
Ahead of the 2026 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, we have identified four yearlings whose pedigrees have received black-type or metropolitan updates over the past couple of months, potentially increasing their value and certainly enhancing their profile.

Lot 9 – Zoustar x Paredo (Better Than Ready), filly – on account of Silverdale Farm

Paradoxium (Extreme Choice) had been one of the favourites for the R.Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic after he won the R.Listed Magic Millions Wyong Classic at his second start. Unfortunately for his connections, a bout of pneumonia saw him miss the big juvenile race, but he recovered under the care of the Bjorn Baker stable to line up for the G2 Todman Stakes three months later.

Paradoxium lived up to expectations with victory in the G2 Todman Stakes, giving his half-sister Lot 9 a pedigree update ahead of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. Paradoxium could only manage 11th in Saturday’s G1 Golden Slipper.

His Zoustar half-sister is only the second foal for stakes placed Paredo (Better Than Ready) who is a half-sister to the dam of Group 1 winner Private Harry (Harry Angel {Ire}) and to stakes placed Snipzu (Snippetson) whose daughter Substantial (Unemcumbered) is the dam of this season’s G3 Peter Le Grand Stakes-placed 3-year-old filly Wintery (Frosted {USA}).

Lot 41 – Maurice (Jpn) x Re Edit (Camelot {GB}), filly – on account of Arrowfield Stud

Current winning form is the best form, and Lot 41 is a half-sister to last weekend’s G2 Wellington Guineas winning 3-year-old filly Origin Of Love (Snitzel). Origin Of Love was a Group 3 winner in the spring, and her latest victory takes her record to three wins from 10 starts.

Origin Of Love is the first foal of stakes placed Re Edit, who has unraced 2-year-old colt Wonka (Snitzel) and foaled a full brother to Lot 41 in 2025.

Re Edit is a half-sister to stakes placed Teodora (Teofilo {Ire}) whose current 3-year-old Helioson (The Autum Sun) placed in the Listed Tasmanian Derby two starts go. Helioson was a winner on debut in the spring.

Lot 148 – Pinatubo (Ire) x The Muses (Lonhro), filly – on account of Fernrigg Farm

This Pinatubo (Ire) filly is a three-quarter sister to Godolphin’s exciting juvenile colt Zambales (Pinatubo {Ire}) who has placed in the G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes and Listed Talindert Stakes since the catalogue went to print.

Zambales also ran fourth in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes. Lot 148 is the first foal of Zambales’ half-sister, unraced Lonhro mare The Muses. The family had another important upgrade when Zambales’ other half-sister 3-year-old filly Tempted (Street Cry {Ire}) won the G1 Surround Stakes.

The pair of Group 1 class siblings are joined by their other half-brother dual Group 2 winner Kallos (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}). Tempted, Kallos, Zambales, and The Muses are out of G2 Magic Night Stakes winner Calliope (Exceed And Excel), so Zambales ability to run early is no surprise given his dam’s precocity.

Lot 348 – Siyouni (Fr) x Impulsive (So You Think {NZ}), colt – on account of Segenhoe Stud

Michael Freedman-trained 3-year-old gelding Ninja (Farnan) won two of his three starts at two, and over the summer, he headed to Brisbane where he won the G3 Vo Rogue Plate before being beaten in sensational circumstances in the R.Listed Magic Millions Guineas.

These performances alone make his yearling half-brother by international sire Siyouni (Fr) incredibly attractive in the marketplace, but since the Easter catalogue went to print, Ninja has improved.

He won the G2 Hobartville Stakes over 1400 metres on his return to Sydney, with future G1 Rosehill Guineas winner Autumn Boy (The Autumn Sun) in third. A tough performance for fifth in the G1 Randwick Guineas had his trainer decide to send him for a spell.

With earnings over $1.1 million, Ninja looks like he has more ahead of him and is from a stable who will take their time to place him well.

As with many Easter pedigrees, this is a strong one. Ninja’s dam, Impulsive, won three times including once in Sydney and she’s a daughter of Group 3 winner Procrastinate (Jade Hunter {USA}). This means that Impulsive is a half-sister to five stakes winners, led by triple Group 1 winner Laisserfaire (Danehill {USA}) as well as Listed winner Personify (Galileo {Ire}) who is the dam of G1 Victoria Oaks victrix Personal (Fastnet Rock).
