Washington Lilac – Upside on track and in the barn
The beautifully-bred Snitzel filly, Washington Lilac, was offered by TFI and sold for $172,500 to the successful buyer, Silverdale Farm.
Washington Lilac is an outstanding type and is out of a daughter of elite American stallion Tapit (USA), giving her a pedigree of genuine international depth and quality. Purchased for $625,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, she is a three-quarter sister to Group 1-winning filly Qafila (Not A Single Doubt), placing her firmly within a proven elite family.

The pedigree continues to strengthen, with her full sister selling for $470,000 at Magic Millions in January to Kia Ora, while Qafila’s filly by I Am Invincible realised $1,250,000.
Silverdale’s Rob Petith confirmed Washington Lilac would continue racing and remain with the Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman stable.
“She’s a beautiful filly with a beautiful page, she’s by Snitzel and the family has been well bred up so there’s plenty of fallback options there with her,’’ Petith said.
“We know the family well, she’s obviously a three-quarter to a Group 1 winner so when the time comes to breeding with her we’re confident she’ll make a beautiful broodmare.’’
TFI’s Sally Houldsworth was pleased with the result.
“She’s a really well-bred filly with plenty of ability and I’m sure Silverdale will have a lot of fun with her both on the track and in the breeding barn,’’ Houldsworth said.
Godolphin select draft draws strong demand
Godolphin brought 15 lots to the 2026 March (Late) Online Sale, and all but one found eager buyers, with 14 horses selling for a combined $447,750 at an average of $31,982 - show of the popularity of these individuals.
Leading the charge was Lot 11, Polyglot, a 4-year-old gelding by Lonhro. A two-time winner with earnings just over $295,000, he attracted strong interest before being secured by Darby Racing for $155,000 who are well-known for finding a bargain via this sale.

Polyglot boasts an appealing pedigree - he is out of the Shamardal (USA) mare Wordcraft (GB), herself a dual winner and the dam of four winners, including dual Listed winner Tamerlane (by Golden Horn {GB}). Adding further depth, his granddam is the outstanding Forensics (Flying Spur), a Champion 2-year-old filly and three-time Group 1 winner.
Scott Darby, who was at Riverside today inspecting yearlings ahead of the Easter Yearling Sale, couldn’t have been happier to secure Polyglot.
“We’ve had great success off the platform, particularly from Godolphin drafts, horses like Sandpaper who’s a Stakes winner since so hopefully Polyglot follows suit,’’ Darby said.
“We actually got a call from Michael Freedman who tipped us into Polyglot, said he’s a beautiful horse with still plenty of racing left in him and then the next day Tommy Berry rang to recommend the horse as well so we were very keen.
“His form is outstanding, finishing 2nd to Mal Coupe who came out and ran 2nd in a Stakes race on Saturday, he also ran 2nd to Catch The Glory who came out and won the [G3] Birthday Card Stakes on Saturday, he’s a very nice horse with some great form lines.
“He’s a great horse to purchase because he’s only won the two races so he’s only rated a BM72 so we’ve got plenty of options and plenty of class races to target with him. He’s already run fourth in a Group race so hopefully we can get him back to Stakes grade.’
Another notable result came with Lot 16, Wentworth Falls, a son of Too Darn Hot (GB). Purchased by Wan Bloodstock for $105,000, the gelding arrives off a last-start maiden victory at Bairnsdale and appears to have plenty of upside still to come on the track.
Bell View Park Stud picks up shares in two lovely types
A 5% share in the talented filly Military Tycoon (Written Tycoon) proved a popular offering, selling for $25,000 to Bell View Park Stud through the Bennett Racing draft, acting on behalf of shareholders. The result places her overall valuation at around $500,000.
By Written Tycoon, Military Tycoon is a lightly raced 3-year-old with significant promise. From just seven starts, she has already captured the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes at Flemington down the straight as a 2-year-old and finished second in a competitive 3-year-old fillies’ handicap earlier this year. She has also held her own in elite company, competing honestly in races such as the Group 1 Golden Slipper and the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes.

She is out of the stakes-winning mare Military Reign (by Universal Ruler), giving her both strong residual value as a broodmare prospect and further upside on the racetrack. Currently in work with Ciaron Maher, her racing story looks far from finished.
Bell View Park Stud then doubled up, picking up a 15% share in First Chorus (NZ) (Ghibellines) for $37,500, valuing the promising Lindsey Smith-trained mare for $37,500, valuing the mare at roughly $250,000.
She was won three of her seven starts and has her sights set on potential blacktype targets in the coming months in Adelaide, giving the hope of instant prizemoney for her new connections.

Strong demand for share in Missapprehend
A 10% share in the promising filly Missapprehend (Wootton Bassett {GB}) was always expected to draw attention, and it didn’t disappoint. Offered as part of the Halo Racing reduction, the share sold for $30,000 to J Jacobson, valuing the filly at approximately $300,000.
By Wootton Bassett (GB), Missapprehend is coming off an impressive last-start win at Sandown for trainer Ciaron Maher, where she defeated a strong maiden field. With that performance under her belt, she looks to have considerable upside going forward.

Her appeal extends well beyond the racetrack. She is out of the unraced Fastnet Rock mare Misstook, who has already produced two winners from two runners. The pedigree is further strengthened by her being a full sister to Group winners Passive Aggressive (Fastnet Rock) and Missrock (Fastnet Rock), and she descends from a family rich in black-type success, including Group 1 winner Mrs Onassis (General Nediym), along with the Group winners Renaissance Woman (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}), Fifth Avenue Lady (Encosta De Lago), and Aussies Love Sport (Redoute's Choice).
With both performance and pedigree on her side, Missapprehend shapes as a filly with a bright future and lasting value once a broodmare.
Newfoundland finds a new home
The tough and seasoned stayer Newfoundland (Ire) has found a new home, with Shane Jackson Racing securing the son of Deep Impact (Jpn) for $110,000 after he was offered by the stable of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.
A 7-year-old gelding with a proven record, Newfoundland is out of the Galileo (Ire) mare Best In The World (Ire). Bred and raised through the renowned Coolmore/Ballydoyle system, he carries elite pedigree credentials as a full brother to champion filly Snowfall (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}).

Newfoundland’s career has been both durable and consistent. From 23 starts, he has recorded four wins, five seconds, and two thirds. He began his racing journey in Ireland before making the move to Australia, where he has more than held his own - particularly in strong staying company.
His Australian highlights include a strong victory in the $200,000 Listed Australia Day Cup over 2400 metres and a strong second, beaten less than a length, in the Group 2 Adelaide Cup last year.
With his toughness and staying credentials, Newfoundland still shapes as a horse with plenty to offer. Placed well, he looks more than capable of adding further prizemoney to his record, and doing so sooner rather than later for his new connections.
