Polska (Encosta De Lago) has been a fantastic broodmare with three Group 2 winners from her six winners, led by 2025 G2 Queen Of The South Stakes winner Zloties (Snitzel), as well as G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes victrix Catch A Fire (Sebring) and her full brother Seaburge who won the G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes and was twice Group 1 placed.
Another full sister to Catch A Fire and Seaburge is two-time winner Waltzing Wodka, and her second foal is the 4-year-old mare Pinito (Trapeze Artist). Already a Listed winner and placed in the G1 Queensland Oaks when the catalogue went to print, Pinito has added the G3 Aspiration Handicap in March this year to take her earnings over $480,000.
Pinito holds nominations for both the G1 Doncaster Handicap and G1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes in April. Lot 186, a Dundeel {NZ}) colt, is from the same family.
Polska is out of G1 Australasian Oaks winner La Volta (Laranto) with G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Mighty Boss (Not A Single Doubt) also featuring in this family.

Splashing out $1.15 million on an unraced mare at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale in 2023 has already paid dividends for Beagle Bloodstock. Summerland (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) was in foal to internationally renowned sire Frankel (GB), and she foaled a filly in the spring of 2023.
Te Encuentro (Frankel {GB}) was sold by Arrowfield Stud at this sale last year for $600,000 to Wexford Stables. The New Zealand operation of Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott sent the filly to the races on Boxing Day for a debut at Ellerslie and she saluted in the 1100 metre event to give Summerland the perfect one from one record as a broodmare.
At her next start, Te Encuentro ran second to a rather good filly by the name of Lara Antipova (Russian Revolution) in the G2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes. Lara Antipova would win the G1 Sistema Stakes after that to stay unbeaten in four starts this season.
Lot 127, a Snitzel filly, is the second foal of Summerland, who is a half-sister to G1 Cantala Stakes winner and $1.9 million earner Best Of Days (GB) (Azamour {Ire}) who was multiple times Group 1 placed in Australia and also won a Group 2 race in England prior to being imported to Australia.
Best Of Days and Summerland are out of German Listed winner Baisse (GB) (High Chaparral {Ire}) who is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Azmeel (GB) (Azamour {Ire}).

Widden Stud invested $900,000 to purchase Sword Of Light (New Approach {Ire}) at the 2020 Inglis Chairman’s Sale in foal to Fastnet Rock. She missed in her next season after foaling down a filly, then they sent the G2 Let’s Elope Stakes victrix to Champion Sire Snitzel.
A colt was born, and in early March, the now 3-year-old colt won the Listed Darby Munro Stakes. Named Beskar, he won at long odds, but he had form leading into the race, coming off a last start third in the G3 Zeditave Stakes. He had also placed in the G3 Kindergarten Stakes at two. And he’s certainly justified the investment into his dam.
His half-brother, Lot 135, by reigning Champion Sire Zoustar is sure to be popular.
Beskar is from the brilliant sprinting family of G1 Goodwood Handicap, G1 Oakleigh Plate and G1 William Reid Stakes winner Flamberge (Exceed And Excel), who is a half-brother to three stakes winners.
Beskar’s dam, Sword Of Light, is a half-sister to Listed winner Sword Of Justice (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}), and to the dam of promising stakes placed 3-year-old filly Sword Of Legacy (Too Darn Hot {GB}).
Lots 100, a Dundeel {NZ} colt, and Lot 367, a Justify {USA} filly, are also from this family, featuring Beskar under their second dams.
Lot 383 – Snitzel x Laguna Azzura (Jpn) (Heart’s Cry {Jpn}), filly – on account of Arrowfield Stud

When the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale catalogue went to print, Lot 383 was a full sister to a promising young mare Lazzura (Snitzel) who had won the G2 Phar Lap Stakes at three and the G2 Let’s Elope Stakes this spring.
But then there’s the boost that a page gets when a horse fulfils their potential and becomes the best of the best. Lazzura achieved this around ten days ago when she won the G1 Coolmore Classic and was the headline act for TTR’s Saturday Racing for the week.
And to win, she had to carry the second highest weight (58kg) since the mighty Sunline (NZ) (Desert Sun {GB}) carried 60kg back in 2002.
One of three winners from three to race for imported winning mare Laguna Azzura (Jpn) (Heart’s Cry {Jpn}), who has also produced the black typed Portorosa (Not A Single Doubt). This is the family of Japanese Group 3 winner Seewind (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}).
