Lot 23 - Too Darn Hot (GB) x Portrait of a Lady (USA) (AP Indy {USA}), colt - on account of Lime Country Thoroughbreds
This regally bred colt received a nice bump to his page earlier this year when his half-brother King Of The Air (Acrobat) broke his maiden at Taranaki on debut for Stephen Marsh and his breeders, Arkle Bloodstock and Fethard Bloodstock. His length victory propelled him into the G3 Matamata Slipper Stakes at his very next start, where he became his first season sire’s first stakes performer, running third to Justin Case (NZ) (Banquo), who was subsequently fourth in the G1 Sistema Stakes.

It’s an extra flair to a page that already features two stakes-winning half-siblings to this lot; G1 Queensland Derby winner Kukeracha (Night Of Thunder {Ire}) and G3 Keith F Nolan Classic victress Cameo (Shamardal {USA}), who is a successful producer of winners herself.
Bidders will find many elements of the pedigree that have had success in the Southern Hemisphere. Second dam Laiyl (Ire) (Nureyev {USA}) not only produced the dual Group 3 winner and G1 Prix Morny runner-up Layman (USA), but is also a three-quarter-sister to the dam of Iffraaj (GB).
Lot 52 - Lucky Vega (Ire) x Rowsthorn (Written Tycoon), colt - on account of Yulong
This colt is a half-brother to two stakes performers, with the 3-year-old Strideaway (Alabama Express) impressing in the 2024/25 season with two juvenile wins and a cracking third in the R. Listed Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic. However it is currency juvenile star Alibaba (Alabama Express) that has brought the heat ahead of this sale.
Third in the Listed Merson Cooper Stakes before Christmas, the colt was an explosive winner for the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (colts & geldings) in January before travelling up to Sydney, where he was third in the R. Listed Inglis 2YO Millennium to Fireball (Snitzel) by three quarters of a length. He jumped out in mid March and currently holds a nomination for the G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes.

Dam Rowsthorn (Written Tycoon) received a further update thanks to her half-brother Roulette King (Casino Prince) who added two more wins to his record earlier this year before taking a step up into stakes level, where he made an immediate impression winning the G1 Alister Clark Stakes last weekend.
Victorian sires have had a serious impact on this colt’s pedigree; third dam Balsamico (Redoute’s Choice), a three-quarter-sister to the dam of D’Argento, has produced dual Listed victress Diamonds (Rich Enuff) and G1 Blue Diamond Stakes-performed Masthead (Written Tycoon), as well as the dam of G3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes winner Written Dash (Written Tycoon).
Lot 244 - Ole Kirk x Calming Influence (Commands), filly - on account of Alma Vale Thoroughbreds
This filly received one of the most significant pedigree updates of the sale a fortnight ago when her half-brother Caballus (I Am Invincible) emerged the victor from a hot finish in the G1 Newmarket Handicap. Caballus already had a trio of Group 3 victories and a Listed win in the Ortensia Stakes, but the Group 1 update is a huge boost for the former $1 million yearling.

Dam Calming Influence (Commands), a Group performer herself, has been putting together a fantastic record both at home and in Hong Kong, with six winners from six to the races. Her 4-year-old Turquoise Velocity (Zoustar) has picked up two more wins in the latter jurisdiction in February and March of this year to take his full record to three wins from just four starts.
One of her eldest foals still racing, Call Me Legend (More Than Ready {USA}) bids to extend his record to eight at the Gold Coast this Saturday.
Lot 451 - Snitzel x Ms Bad Behavior (Can) (Blame {USA}), colt - on account of Arrowfield Stud
A colt whose page needs little introduction, it is a smaller scale update to report for this lot, but still an important one. Dam Ms Bad Behaviour (Can) (Blame {USA}) has now produced two winners from her first two runners, with 3-year-old Decorum (Snitzel) adding to the record of his older brother Switzerland, who stands at Coolmore Stud.
A Newcastle winner at his second start in the spring, Decorum put in strong performances to win at midweek metropolitan grade twice in February, beating the immaculately bred Lancelot Du Lac (Flying Artie) in the latter win. He earned a shot at black-type in the G1 Randwick Guineas, where things didn’t go to plan, but there were sufficient flashes of brilliance shown in his earlier wins to merit watching in future.

Ms Bad Behaviour was a winner up to Grade III level herself in North America and was fourth in the GI Del Mar Oaks amongst a host of Graded performances. Her three foals to walk through the ring to date have sold for a combined $4.75 million, so no doubt this colt will turn heads this year as well!
