Blueblooded stakes producer Harbour Fun tops Magic Millions Digital

A close relation to G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Mossfun, Harbour Fun was the most in-demand mare in this week's Magic Millions Digital Sale, where Proven Thoroughbreds' offering of shares in 18 horses was also popular.

Wednesday’s Magic Millions Digital Sale saw 43 lots sold for a gross of $257,850 at the close of bidding, with a clearance rate of 54.4%.

Stakes-producing Harbour Watch (Ire) mare Harbour Fun was the top lot when selling to Machu Picchu Pty Ltd for $95,000.

Eureka Stud was the leading vendor, selling their one lot for $95,000, followed by Proven Thoroughbreds who sold 18 shares for a total of $73,800.

Harbour Fun tops Magic Millions in foal to Spirit Of Boom

The well-related Harbour Watch (Ire) mare Harbour Farm topped the Magic Millions Digital sale that closed on Wednesday, selling for $95,000 to the bid of Shì shì lái ma's Machu Picchu Pty Ltd. She was offered by Eureka Stud, in foal to leading Queensland sire Spirit Of Boom.

Unraced herself, the 11-year-old Harbour Fun is a half-sister to Listed Ken Russell Classic winner Cat D’Antibes (Tale Of The Cat {USA}) and the stakes-producing mares Allegra (Dehere {USA}), Have Fun (Al Maher), and Eye For Fun (Snitzel). The latter is the dam of G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Mossfun (Mossman), amongst three of her own stakes winners, and is the granddam of Tasmanian stallion Bodyguard.

Harbour Fun’s three named foals are all winners, including G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes victress Sassy Boom (Spirit Of Boom), who also won the R. Listed Magic Millions Tasmanian 2YO Classic and will be offfered at the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale in May.

Harbour Fun has an unraced 2-year-old filly by Bivouac still to come and was covered by Spirit Of Boom in late September.

100% clearance on Proven shares

Proven Thoroughbreds offered shares in 18 horses on this week’s Magic Millions Digital Sale, dispersing the racing interests of the late Tony Halloran, and all were sold for a gross of $73,800. Two of the horses most sought after in their draft were unraced So You Think (NZ) gelding Any Time Now and metropolitan winner Larado (Toronado {Ire}).

A descendant of triple Group 1 winner and top broodmare Ballroom Babe (NZ) (Citidancer {Ire}), 2-year-old Any Time Now is closely related to Western Australian sire Maschino and Listed victor Kentucky Breeze (Pierro). All three of his siblings to the track are winners. A 10% share in the gelding was bought for $9000 by Christine Frohloff, valuing him at $90,000.

The 4-year-old Larado has won three races up to city class in just five starts for Matthew Hoystead, and is the best offspring of metropolitan winner Lake District Girl (Not A Single Doubt), who was fourth in the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude (fillies). Adam House bought a 12.5% share in the gelding for $15,000, valuing him at $120,000.

“Organising a dispersal sale of shares for an estate is quite an undertaking and Magic Millions could not have been more helpful with all the administration that was required,” Proven Thoroughbreds' Tom Walter reported.

Another popular offering in the same draft was a 5.5% share in untried juvenile Lock And Key (Brutal {NZ}), who is out of a winning daughter of multiple Group winner So Gorgeous (Brief Truce {USA}). The immediate family includes Group 2-winning millionaire Within The Law (Lucky Vega {Ire}), G1 Golden Shaheen winner Sterling City (Nadeem), and Kementari.

His share was bought for $6500 by Stewart Harper, producing a valuation a tick over $118,000.

Entries will open on April 2 for the next Magic Millions Digital sale, which will take place from April 17 to 22. Jason Miller has already confirmed the presence of multiple Group-winning, Group 1 performed mare Admiration Express (My Admiration) in the catalogue.
