Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Three promising types by Extreme Choice, Zoustar and Too Darn Hot (GB) are chasing maiden success across Australia on Wednesday.

Extremely Tempted, 2-year-old colt (Extreme Choice x Tempt Me Not {Strategic Maneuver)

The very promising Extremely Tempted (Extreme Choice) makes his debut at Hawkesbury on Wednesday for his trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

He has looked sharp at the trials, running second behind the subsequent winner and Group-performer The Next Episode (Snitzel) in his first trial at Warwick Farm, and then winning his second trial with ease at Randwick on March 16 by just over two and a half lengths.

Extremely Tempted is out of the classy Group 3 winner Tempt Me Not (Strategic Maneuver), and is from the family of the dual Group 1 winner Tempest Morn (Thunder Gulch {USA}) and the Group 2-winning juvenile Good Standing (Artie Schiller {USA}).

Tempt Me Not, in recent years, has produced a yearling colt by Extreme Choice who was withdrawn from the 2026 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, and then she has then missed to the same stallion the last two seasons.

Extremely Tempted was purchased by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Kestrel Thoroughbreds and Kia Ora Stud for $550,000 from the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Lafite, 2-year-old colt (Zoustar x Summer Sham {Not A Single Doubt)

The well-related and flashy chestnut colt Lafite (Zoustar) is set to make his debut at Hawkesbury over 1100 metres for trainer Chris Waller on Wednesday.

He has had plenty of education at the trials, and trialled nicely at Rosehill over 900 metres, when running second behind Moscow Maid (Russian Revolution) on March 10.

Lafite is the fourth live-foal from the Not A Single Doubt mare Summer Sham. She was the winner of the G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes on the track. She has had success as a broodmare already leaving Schwarz who was successful in the G1 William Reid Stakes amongst his six wins before he retired to stud.

Lafite holds an interesting pedigree pattern duplicating the great stallion Redoute’s Choice 3 x 3, his sire Zoustar is out of a Redoute’s Choice mare and his dam is by Not A Single Doubt, who is a son of Redoute’s Choice.

Summer Sham had a Zoustar yearling filly that sold for $1.8 million at the recently completed 2026 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, last September she foaled a Zoustar filly, before being served again by the same stallion last season.

Lafite himself sold to the James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership and Tony Fung Colts group for $1.4 million from the Widden Stud draft at last year's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Sword of Legacy is a daughter of the classy Too Darn Hot (GB) and is out of the winning Exceed And Excel mare Kaiken. She is a half-sister to the New Approach (Ire) mare Sword Of Light who was classy on the track winning five times including the G2 Let’s Elope Stakes, and the G3 Blue Diamond Preview (f). Another half-sibling is the Listed winning Medaglia D’Oro (USA) gelding Sword Of Justice.

The family is very current and is full of other group winners including Flamberge (Exceed And Excel), Razor Blade (Blazing Sword), Sunburnt Land (Scenic {Ire}), Durendal (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}) and Curtana (Exceed And Excel).

Kaiken since producing Sword Of Legacy has left a yearling filly by Justify (USA), a weanling filly by Harry Angel (Ire) and was served by Castelvecchio last October.

Sword Of Legacy was passed in short of her $220,000 reserve at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Looking Back:

Cerano Magic (Supido) - Let him self down in the gates at Grafton, missing it by roughly 20 lengths according to the race caller at Grafton. Forget the run and see how he goes next time.

Amazigh Torque (Caselvecchio) - Ran a solid second behind a smart one at Grafton, she will pick up a maiden soon.
