An iconic thoroughbred breeding operation, Mapperley Stud has been in the business of breeding and rearing thoroughbreds for over 50 years. Boasting a rich history, Mapperley is situated on 600 acres of beautiful rolling Waikato country and is committed to continuing their ascent into becoming one of the country’s leading thoroughbred studs.
Mapperley Stud requires a Yearling Manager to join our young and dynamic team. We are seeking a motivated and high achieving individual who is willing to work closely with the senior management team as we move into an exciting stage of the stud’s development.
The successful applicant will manage all aspects of Yearling preparation including nutrition, education, fitness, as well as care of sick and injured horses under veterinary supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Experience handling & working with young thoroughbred horses
Knowledge & experience preparing yearlings for sales
Broad knowledge of yearling dietary requirements
Ability to liaise with specialists such as veterinarians and farriers
Administration and coordination of medication and vaccines
Ability to assist the foaling team throughout the breeding season
Excellent organisational and time management skills
