Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
The action on Tuesday moves to Mornington, where geldings trained by Jerome Hunter and Busuttin Racing aim to knock off a maiden victory.

Deepseek, 3-year-old gelding (Deep Field x Very Clever {Lonhro})
Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young will take 3-year-old Deepseek (Deep Field) to Mornington on Tuesday in pursuit of breaking his maiden at his second start. The gelding debuted at Geelong earlier in April for a fourth placing, and he showed good speed in the middle of the run that suggests he could improve second up.

Deepseek is the fourth foal from Very Clever (Lonhro), an unraced half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Tuscan Sling (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) and Arrival (Choisir), the stakes-performed dam of dual Listed winner Assertive Approach (Akeed Mofeed {GB}). Their dam Firenza (Kenny's Best Pal) is a half-sister to grand producer Beauty World (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) and Zoom By (Red Dazzler), dam of G3 Chairman's Stakes winner Big Sky (Bivouac).
Since foaling Deepseek, Very Clever produced a colt by All Too Hard in 2025 before visiting Traffic Warden.
Riversley Park bought Deepseek for $240,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from Ridgmont.
Mornington, Race 4, 3pm AEDT, Tobin Brothers Plate, $32,000, 1000m
Tassorting, 3-year-old gelding (Tassort x Sportini {Bernadini {USA}})
Trained by Jerome Hunter, Tassorting (Tassort) will hunt for his maiden victory at start number six at Mornington. He has placed in four of his previous five starts, including three seconds - all at the same track as Tuesday's race. He ran fifth in his one start where he was stretched out beyond 1100 metres, so will appreciate the drop back in trip for his winter resumption.
Tassorting's dam Sportini (Bernadini) is out of an unraced Flying Spur half-sister to the multiple Group winners Sportsman (Supremo), Prisoner Of Love (Canny Lad), and Hoystar (Danzero), as well as Listed-winning sire King Of Prussia. Also close in this family is Vanbrugh and talented Listed winner and performer Carocapo (Husson {Arg}).

Since producing Tassorting, Sportini foaled a filly by Tiger Of Malay in 2024, who was a $2000 purchase for Riverstone Lodge, Pinhook Bloodstock International (FBAA), and Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) as a weanling at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale.
Tassorting was a $22,000 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale purchase for G Gathercole from Glenbeigh Farm.
Looking Back:
Determinato (Hellbent) - Finished third by a fair margin behind first and second.
