Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two well-bred Snitzel 2-year-old colts and a 3-year-old Super Seth filly chase success across Australia on Saturday.

Hawkesbury, Race 1, 11.20pm AEDT, St Johns Park Bowling Club 2YO Clarendon Stakes, $160,000, 1400m

Tenenbaum, 2-year-old colt (Snitzel x C’Est Beau La Vie (Bernardini {USA})

The Brad Widdup-trained Tenenbaum (Snitzel) chases his second win at Hawkesbury in the Clarendon Stakes on Saturday over 1400 metres. He was an impressive winner over 1200 metres at Wyong late last month, and he looks beautifully placed to go back-to-back.

Tenenbaum is the sixth foal out of Listed winner C’Est Beau La Vie (Bernardini {USA}), who has already excelled as a broodmare, producing Cap Ferrat (Snitzel) - in addition to his Listed Hong Kong Derby success he was a three-time Group 1-placegetter in Australia and a $1.4 million Inglis Easter graduate. Cap Ferrat also ran a close-up behind My Wish (Flying Artie) in the G1 Champions Mile last weekend at Sha Tin.

It is a pedigree steeped in elite staying and classic talent. C’Est Beau La Vie is a half-sister to two stakes winners, while her dam Valkyrie Diva (Jade Robbery {USA}) was a Group 3 winner and notably a half-sister to the legendary late Makybe Diva (GB) (Desert King {Ire}), the seven-time Group 1 winner and triple Melbourne Cup heroine.

C’Est Beau La Vie has continued to produce quality stock, with a Snitzel yearling colt, a weanling colt by Dundeel (NZ), and she was subsequently served by Anamoe last spring.

Tenenbaum himself was a $750,000 purchase by Mulberry Racing from the Arrowfield Stud draft at last year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Eagle Farm, Race 6, 2.58pm AEDT, Listed Seven Dalrello Stakes, $200,000, 1000m

The Next Episode, 2-year-old colt (Snitzel x Humma Humma {Denmam})

The Ciaron Maher-trained The Next Episode (Snitzel) chases Listed success at Eagle farm on Saturday over 1000 metres, which may help propel the beautifully-bred colt towards a future job as a stallion.

He was a very impressive winner at Warwick Farm in early March, and then ran a very good second in the G3 Kindergarten Stakes behind Blue Door (Stay Inside) after being slow away. He looks well-placed in this race, and tuned up for it with a comfortable trial win at Doomben on April 21 over 1000 metres.

The Next Episode is the equal-highest-priced yearling by the Champion Snitzel sold, and is the second foal out of Humma Humma (Denman), a multiple stakes-winning mare of the G3 Proud Miss Stakes, Listed Alinghi Stakes and Listed Redelva Stakes, and a half-sister to Listed winner Tycoon Humma (Capitalist).

Her first foal, Price Tag (Zoustar), has already made a bright start to her career, placing in the G3 Blue Diamond Preview (f), the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes, and running fourth in the G3 Maribyrnong Plate last season.

Humma Humma has an I Am Invincible yearling colt that was purchased for $600,000 by McEvoy Mitchell Racing Pty Ltd and Belmont Bloodstock (FBAA) at this year's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, a Zoustar weanling filly and missed to Zoustar last spring.

The Next Episode was purchased for $2.8 million from the Widden Stud draft at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock.

Newcastle, Race 4, 2pm AEDT, SV Partners Maiden Plate, $42,000, 1900m

Gold Cup (NZ), 3-year-old filly (Super Seth x Together (NZ) {Ocean Park {NZ}})

The well-bred Gold Cup (NZ) (Super Seth) makes her fourth start at Newcastle on Saturday over 1900 metres for local-trainer Kris Lees.

Gold Cup is a Waikato Stud-bred filly. She is by the now Coolmore Stud based Super Seth and is out of Together (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}), a two-time winner and half-sister to the Group 3-placed Save The Date (NZ) (Savabeel).

Gold Cup comes from the family of the outstanding globetrotter Starcraft (NZ), who was successful in Group 1 races in Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and France.

In recent years, Together has not had much luck at stud, since foaling Gold Cup she has unfortunately had foals that have died by Ardrossan and Super Seth, although she was served by Banquo last spring.

Gold Cup was purchased by KPW Bloodstock for NZ$80,000 from the Waikato Stud draft at the 2024 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale.

Looking Back:

Global Goal (Pinatubo {Ire}) - Was a very impressive winner on debut at Wagga.

Jessica Rabbit (Written Tycoon) - Disappointed running fifth as favourite at Pakenham.
