Magic Millions has announced five high calibre supplementary entries to the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale. Group winners Russian Alliance (Russian Revolution) and Quantum Mechanic (Deep Field) will be joined by Listed Lonhro Plate victress Bellazaine (Zousain), Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes winner Merriest (Denman), and international stakes winner Hot Little Thing (USA) (Army Mule {USA}).
Exciting prospects off the track
The 3-year-old Bellazaine and 5-year-old Russian Alliance join the cohort of stakes-winning fillies and mares being offered off the track at the Gold Coast sale.
Beaten only three lengths on debut in the G3 Gimcrack Stakes, Bellazaine resumed in the autumn with her Lonhro Plate victory, defeating subsequent dual Group 1 winner Beiwacht (Bivouac) by half a length in the process.
“Bellazaine has always been a very physically mature filly with an outstanding constitution,” co-trainer Adrian Bott said. “From the moment she arrived in the stable, she’s shown high-class ability and has been a pleasure to train.

“Her win in the Lonhro Plate was particularly impressive - she had the toughness to sit on speed and fight all the way to the line to hold off Beiwacht, and we all know the quality of that horse.”

She followed the effort with running second to Within The Law (Lucky Vega {Ire}), beaten just a lip, in the G2 Sweet Embrace Stakes and ran in all three legs of the juvenile Triple Crown, finishing a length and a half off of Vinrock in the G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes.
Bellazaine has continued to run close races at Group level, finishing fifth by half a length in the G2 1000 Guineas Prelude in the spring and fourth in the G3 PJ Bell Stakes in April.
“She showed precocity early in her training, which carried her through to perform strongly against the best of her generation in the lead-up races to the Golden Slipper,” Bott said. “She has all the attributes you’d want to see in a filly heading to the breeding barn; strength, soundness and natural athleticism, and I’ve no doubt she’ll pass those traits on to her progeny.”

After debuting fourth in the $75,000 Pat O’Shea Plate in the September of her 2-year-old year, Russian Alliance returned in the autumn and proceeded to win five straight races, culminating in victory in the G3 Ken Russell Classic, beating subsequent multiple stakes winner and multimillionaire Abounding (Rich Enuff).
She has been a featured player in some of Queensland’s biggest races, running third to Miss Roumbini (Zoustar) in the 2025 $1 million Magic Millions Fillies & Mares and finishing second to Steady Ready (Better Than Ready) in the $750,000 King Of The Mountain. Returning to the Fillies & Mares this January, she was gallant in defeat when finishing midpack by under three lengths to Poster Girl (Alabama Express).
A half sister to G1 New Zealand Oaks placegetter Single Red (NZ) (Vanbrugh), Russian Alliance joins the Kenmore Lodge draft as Lot 539. Her dam Sea Dweller (GB) (High Chaparral {Ire}) is already catalogued in the Kulani Park draft as Lot 650, carrying a positive pregnancy to G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Shinzo.
Stakes appeal in both hemispheres
Catalogued as Lot 812 in Vinery Stud’s draft, G2 Sunline Stakes winner Quantum Mechanic boasts a strong international pedigree; her half-brother Mount Pleasant (Vancouver) is a dual Group 2 winner in South Africa and her dam Life In A Metro (Fastnet Rock) is a half-sister to three stakes winners including G1 Australasian Oaks winner Abbey Marie (Redoute’s Choice) and G1 Australian Oaks winner Absolutely (Redoute’s Choice).

“We bought her as a yearling and loved her as a type especially with the deep international pedigree,” Mill Park Stud's Chris Watson said. “She was a hard, tough competitor, loved a mile, a genuine race mare who consistently showed ability throughout her career.

“(She was) a Group 2 winner and (she) only finished two lengths or less behind the winners in two Group 1 races. We had great fun racing her into her 5-year-old season before retiring to stud"

A further half-sister to Life In A Metro, The Hunt Is On (Manhattan Rain) has carved a name for herself in France, producing two stakes performers to date amongst six winners. Further back in the immediate family is Japanese Champion Sprinter and Miler and sire Kinshasa No Kiseki.
Quantum Mechanic’s first foal, a filly by Frankel (GB), was a $375,000 purchase for Shane McGrath Bloodstock and Clinton McDonald Racing from Mill Park Stud at this year’s Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. She carries an early September cover to Champion First Season Sire Ole Kirk, whose fee has been elevated to $110,000 inc GST for the 2026 season.
“She’s just a lovely balanced type, plenty of strength, bone and a huge big deep girth,” Watson continued. “A beautiful mare that will be very easy to breed on type and pedigree. It was very pleasing to see great judges secure her first yearling in Shane McGrath and Clinton McDonald buying the Frankel filly.”

Further international appeal will be offered by Vinery Stud in Lot 814, Hot Little Thing. The daughter of Group 1-producing Army Mule (USA) claimed two Listed contests amongst her five wins, all over 1000 metres to 1200 metres.
She has a yearling filly by Blame (USA) in the pipeline, and her Shinzo weanling colt will be offered in Vinery Stud’s Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale as Lot 338. Hot Little Thing will be offered in foal to Champion First Season Sire elect Home Affairs on an October cover.
Widden Stud will offer Merriest as Lot 811. The daughter of Denman was also placed several times at Group level and is a half-sister to Festivity (Nicconi), dam of Group-winning, Group 1-performed millionaire Semana (Winning Rupert) and this season’s Listed Morphettville Guineas winner Gala Queen (Deep Field).

Supplementary entries for the sale close on May 18.
