Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Trainers Mitchell Beer and George Carpenter are chasing a double at Illawarra Grange on Tuesday with geldings by Harry Angel (Ire) and Tassort who both deserve maiden wins.

Above The Law, 3-year-old gelding (Harry Angel (Ire) x Martha Heights {Epaulette})

The consistent gelding Above The Law (Epaulette) looks very hard to beat for his new trainers Mitchell Beer and George Carpenter on the Illawarra Grange on Tuesday over 1450 metres. He previously has ran six placings from seven career starts for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable.

Above The Law is out of the Epaulette mare Martha Heights who was a winner over 1400 metres. She has a very strong pedigree being a three-quarter-sister to the Group 2 winner Washington Heights (Commands) and a half-sister to three other Listed winners.

Martha Heights, in recent years, has left a 2-year-old colt by Yes Yes Yes, and foaled a King Colorado colt last spring, before she was retired from stud.

Above The Law was purchased for $140,000 by Darby Racing from the Sledmere Stud draft at 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
