Thursday night heralds the tenth annual Inglis Chairman’s Sale with 115 elite breeding stock lots catalogued for sale on a night of elegance and excellence. The first Inglis Chairman’s Sale took place in 2017 where 71 lots sold for $23 million. The sale reached a gross of $54 million in 2025. As Inglis prepares for their tenth Chairman’s Sale, the team at Sydney’s sale company have put together a stellar catalogue of 115 lots representing the best and brightest breeding stock across Australia. This is the largest catalogue in Inglis Chairman’s Sale history.

“The Inglis Chairman’s Sale is the most fun sale of the year, anywhere in the world and it provides an unparalleled experience for both vendors and buyers,” Inglis CEO Sebastian Hutch said.

Ending the first decade with glory

“This is the 10th year of The Chairman’s Sale and the style of the evening has created an unrivalled atmosphere deserving of an annual celebration of some of the most desirable race fillies and mares in the world each year.”

In the first nine years of the sale, 58 lots have sold for seven figure sums, led by G1 The Everest winner Bella Nipotina (Pride Of Dubai) who made a record $4.2 million last year.

Of the 114 mares catalogued for the 2026 sale, 58 are in foal with Darley’s exciting pair of Broadsiding and Anamoe leading the figures with seven mares and six mares respectively. Home Affairs, Harry Angel (Ire), and The Autumn Sun are all next with fives mare each in foal to them.

With two thirds of the broodmares and race fillies on offer having black type in their first generation – either through their own race record or that of their progeny – this is a catalogue that does what it says on the front cover.

Extreme Choice leads the charge

Thursday night’s sale will expect fireworks when Lot 104 is presented to the audience. The share in Extreme Choice is a rare opportunity to buy equity in Australia’s most expensive stallion. Newgate Farm announced his fee for 2026 at $385,000 including GST, and it’s warranted if you have a fertile mare.

The sub-fertile stallion hasn’t let that stop him with six individual Group 1 winners from G1 Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside, G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Devil Night, through to G1 Melbourne Cup winner Knight’s Choice. The son of Not A Single Doubt can do no wrong with a massive 18 stakes winners from just 155 runners.

In addition to a share in him, a further three mares are being sold in foal to him. Listed Debutant Stakes winner Kiki Express (Sepoy) is Lot 79, and she’s out of a stakes winning Redoute’s Choice mare.

Two additional mares were added to the supplementary catalogue and they are Lot 112 Hazlebrook (Hinchinbrook) who is carrying a full sibling to G3 Vanity Stakes winner Wollombi (Extreme Choice, and Lot 113 Sizzlefly (Snitzel), a stakes placed daughter of Listed winner Come Fly With Me (More Than Ready {USA}).

Mares with racing upside

Despite the withdrawals of Royal Ascot-bound Generosity (Divine Prophet) and Group 2 winner In Flight (Flying Artie), there remain plenty of young race fillies with more to give on the track.

This season’s G2 Reisling Stakes winner Chayan (I Am Invincible) will be the final lot of the night at Lot 115 and the 2-year-old filly is a daughter of Group 3 winner Lubiton (Snitzel). As a juvenile, the Annabel and Rob Archibald-trained filly has only had four starts winning at Group 2 level.

Group 2 winning 4-year-old mare Philia (All Too Hard), a half-sister to triple Group 1 winner Duais (Shamus Award) and Group 3 winner Baccarat Baby (Casino Prince), comes to the sale as the winner of four of her eleven starts.

Listed as Lot 29 Ahha Ahha (Starspangledbanner) is being aimed at the G1 Tatts Tiara at the end of the Queensland winter.

“She’s fit. We’ve kept her in work the whole way through (the sales preparation). She’s a very sound, lightly raced mare who is getting better as she gets older,” trainer Clinton McDonald said.

Winner of the G3 Matron Stakes at her most recent start, Ahha Ahha has four wins from 18 starts with earnings over $360,000.

“She won the Group 3 last start and was second in her four starts before that, and was unlucky not to win them all. She could easily race on for another twelve months. The plan is to head to Queensland for the Dane Ripper and the Tatts Tiara.”

Ahha Ahha is a half-sister to stakes placed Rocket Star (Star Witness).

Among the other mares with racing upside include Benedetta, Group 1-placed Arabian Summer (Too Darn Hot {GB}), Group 3 winner Good Banter (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}) and Mare Of Mt Buller (Dundeel {NZ}).

A collection of Group 1 winners

Three Group 1 winning mares are set to entice the world’s best breeders and two of them are directly off the track with their whole breeding future ahead of them.

Widden Stud will present Lot 35 Benedetta (Hellbent) on behalf of her ownership group. The G1 Goodwood Handicap victrix has won eight races and been placed in Group 1 company on a further four occasions. Out of Group 2-placed Whatalovelyday (Domesday), Benedetta is from the family of Group 1 winners Leica Guv (NZ) (Deputy Governor {USA}) and Light Fantastic (Danehill Dancer {Ire}).

Triple Group 1 winner Provence (NZ) (Savabeel) will be highly sought after given her own race record with seven victories and over NZ$1 million, as well as her pedigree, being by a Champion Sire and Provence is also a full sister to R.Listed The Kiwi winner Damask Rose (NZ). This is the family of Group 1 winner and sire Brutal (NZ).

G1 Australasian Oaks winner Princess Jenni (NZ) (High Chaparral {Ire}) is offered as Lot 99 in foal to proven Group 1 sire Pride Of Dubai. Her first foal is unraced 2-year-old colt King Snitz (Snitzel) and she has a Wootton Bassett (GB) weanling filly on the ground.

Home Affairs’ story began at Chairman’s

At the inaugural Inglis Chairman’s Sale, Belmont Bloodstock purchased Miss Interiors (Flying Spur) on behalf of Torryburn Stud for $625,000. She was in foal to Deep Field and that foal would become Listed winner and G1 Caulfield Guineas-placed Aysar, who stands in Western Australia. Her next foal was dual Group 1 winner Home Affairs, who is now a G1 Golden Slipper producing sire thanks to this year’s victor Guest House.

The dam of Guest House, Flamboyant Lass (Stratum) is Lot 58 and she’s offered in foal to Storm Boy.

Five mares in the sale are in foal to Home Affairs, including Lot 8, dual Listed winner Solaia (Toronado {Ire}) and Lot 91, Moldova (Snitzel) who is the dam of G1 NZ 1000 Guineas winner Captured By Love (Written Tycoon).

“The sale has been generating results of major significance, in terms of both the local and international bloodstock market, ever since,” said Hutch.

“Group 1 Golden Slipper-winning colts, Stay Inside and Shinzo, were sold in utero at the sale while other mares offered at Chairman’s include the dams of subsequent Group 1 winners Autumn Glow, Imperatriz, Home Affairs, Apocalyptic, Caballus, She’s Extreme and international star In Italian.”

Two mares are being offered in foal to Stay Inside being Lot 108, winning mare Luna Rocks (Hellbent) a half-sister to G3 Pago Pago Stakes, G3 Breeders’ Plate, and R.Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic victor Shaquero (Shalaa {Ire}) and Lot 110, R.Listed Inglis Nursery-placed Canadian Spice (Vancouver).

Shinzo, whose first crop are weanlings, has covered Lot 34, Group 2-placed Ausbred Flirt (Maurice {Ire}), who is a half-sister to Listed winners Scratchy Lass (U S Ranger {USA}) and Rich Itch (Danerich).

“I have no doubt that in months and years to come, we’ll be talking about the 2026 Chairman’s Sale and the unbelievable results that breeders were able to achieve from being active participants in the auction,” summed up Hutch.
