Lot 251 – Home Affairs x Cancel (Exceed And Excel) filly – $680,000
A filly that oozed racing appeal and residual value as a future broodmare topped proceedings when Lot 251, the Home Affairs filly was purchased for $680,000 by Stefan Pardi of SP Bloodstock (Aust) Pty Ltd from the Coolmore Stud draft.
The strong, athletic filly is out of dual winner Cancel (Exceed And Excel), who has excelled as a broodmare with four winners to her name, including G1 Thousand Guineas winner Madame Pommery (No Nay Never {USA}) and the winner and Group 3 placegetter Moet Down (Pierro).
Cancel is also exceptionally well-related as a full sister to G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Earthquake (Exceed And Excel), and a half-sister to Listed winners Pandemic (Sepoy) and Palomares (Commands).
“I'm very, very happy, the fillies got such good residual value, and when you include Home Affairs into the mixture there, it's just great,” Pardi said.

“Home Affairs, as we all know, the service fee went up, and she might be cheap in the end. She may come back here in January or may go to Easter. I'll make that decision when that happens, but I'm very happy.”
Since producing this filly, Cancel has been served again by the exciting Home Affairs.

Grenville Stud was the successful purchaser of Lot 326, a Zoustar colt secured for $500,000 from the Baramul Stud draft.
The strong, athletic colt is the first foal out of the unraced I Am Invincible mare Grandstraand, herself out of G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Mrs Onassis (General Nediym), who also claimed a further two Listed sprint victories.
The family is stacked with quality performers, including Group winners Passive Aggressive (Fastnet Rock), Missrock (Fastnet Rock) and Aussies Love Sport (Redoute’s Choice).

“I love the colt, we saw him the first day of inspections and really loved him and certainly looked at him a few more times after that, and just couldn't fault the horse,” Bart McCulloch said.
“I just think he's a lovely weanling now and I think he's going to be a lovely yearling as we go forward, it's just hard to find horses that look like that, you try to breed a horse like that, and it's hard.
“He’s by a Champion stallion in Zoustar, out of a very young mare, who is out of a Group 1 winner so for us, he ticked all the boxes.”

Lot 245 – Extreme Choice x Boomstress (Spirit Of Boom) colt – $480,000
As the only weanling catalogued by Newgate Farm’s outstanding sire Extreme Choice, bidding was always expected to be fierce for Lot 245, and it proved exactly that as Yulong secured the colt for $480,000 via Sheng Geng as the buyer from the Kingstar Farm draft.
The striking chestnut colt is the fourth foal out of 2-year-old winner and Listed placegetter Boomstress (Spirit Of Boom), who has already produced two winners.
The colt also hails from the family of Group 3 winner Metallic Crown (Northern Meteor) and dual Listed winner Snitzepeg (Snitzel).
“He’s a fantastic colt and I believe he's as nice a colt as all over the world, obviously, the sire has done so well and he's one of the champions in Australia, and I see a lot of hope in his bloodline,” Jun Zhang of Yulong commented.
“I'm looking forward to getting him home, and I'm very happy we can buy him at that price.”

Lot 78 – Ole Kirk x Oxford Angel (Nicconi) filly – $400,000
There was a strong sense of familiarity for Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock, who teamed up with MyRacehorse and trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott to secure Lot 78, an Ole Kirk filly out of Oxford Angel (Nicconi), for $400,000 from the Rosari Farm draft.
The attractive filly is a full sister to the talented but ill-fated King Kirk (Ole Kirk), who won the Group 3 Breeders’ Plate on debut at his only start. Oxford Angel is also a half-sister to eight-time winner and Listed scorer Oxford Poet (Dylan Thomas {Ire}).
“We bought her for MyRacehorse, with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, we all teamed up to buy King Kirk as a yearling and obviously he won his first start in the Breeders’ Plate in brilliant fashion and unfortunately he had a sad demise, and he's no longer with us. So MyRacehorse and Gai and Adrian were keen to team up again and continue the family going.” Gabbedy explained.
“She's a beautiful filly, the stallion is going places and the cross works and we loved her as a type, so we thought we'd get involved again.

“The boys at MyRacehorse loved King Kirk, so we went last year and bought his full brother out of the paddock from the Nolan's who are great breeders and he's called Prince Kirk and he's in training with Bjorn Baker, so now we've got King Kirk, Prince Kirk and we'll probably have Princess Kirk.”

After producing this filly, Oxford Angel was again served by Vinery Stud’s Ole Kirk.
Lot 105 – I Am Invincible x Renaissance Woman (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}) colt – $400,000
Padraig Kelly of Fernrigg Farm went to $400,000 to secure Lot 105, an I Am Invincible colt from the Attunga Stud draft and the first foal of classy mare Renaissance Woman (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}).
A winner of the G3 Angst Stakes, G3 Ethereal Stakes and Listed Gold Coast Bracelet, Renaissance Woman boasts a pedigree loaded with quality performers. It was a good day for the family with a colt out of a close relation Grandstraand (I Am Invincible) selling for $500,000.
Other relations include the G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Mrs Onassis (General Nediym), along with Group winners Passive Aggressive (Fastnet Rock), Missrock (Fastnet Rock) and Aussies Love Sport (Redoute’s Choice).
After producing this colt, Renaissance Woman was served again by Yarraman Park Stud’s champion ‘Vinnie’.
Lot 297 – Harry Angel (Ire) x Etana (Shamus Award) colt – $330,000
Well-respected judge Jim Carey fought hardest to secure Lot 297, an attractive colt by Harry Angel (Ire), purchasing him for $330,000 from the Aristia Park draft.
The striking brown colt is out of G2 The Roses winner Etana (Shamus Award), who is a half-sister to four-time winner and multiple stakes placegetter Echo Gal (Stratum). She is also a half-sister to the dam of Glamour Tycoon (Written Tycoon), a dual Listed winner who last week sold to Nearco Stud for NZ$375,000 via the May Premium Broodmare Sale on Gavelhouse Plus.
The extended family also includes G1 South Australian Derby winner Coco Sun (The Autumn Sun).
“He’s by a very good stallion and out of a very good mare. They're very rare offerings and he's a beautiful, quality colt,” Carey said.
“Very straightforward, from a good farm, from a good breeder, and he will come back into our system now and he will be in a good yearling sale next year.

“We will let him settle in at home, but he will be back here in January or maybe Easter. They're rare offerings and you have to go a little bit harder to get these kind of horses, but he is a lovely colt.”
