Kingstar Farm moved decisively at the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale to secure Overriding (Star Turn), identifying the stakes-performed daughter mare as a good value purchase.
A five-time winner with earnings exceeding $500,000, Overriding built a consistent and classy race record, highlighted by three consecutive victories between 1200 metres and 1500 metres. She was also stakes placed in both the Listed Mona Lisa Stakes and G3 Tibbie Stakes, while finishing fourth in the G3 Dark Jewel Classic.

For Kingstar Farm’s Adam Cook, the mare’s record could easily have included black-type success at Group level.
“Great buying I thought,” Cook explained.
A mare that could easily have been a Group winner
Cook believes Overriding was unlucky not to add a Group victory to her page in the Dark Jewel Classic, a result he feels may have significantly altered her price in the sale ring.

“Ash Morgan that day turned left when he should have turned right and probably should have won, but she has won five races, over half a million dollars on the racetrack and been Group 3 and Listed placed, so she has plenty of class.”

Overriding also brings a strong pedigree update to the table. She is one of four winners out of My Hussy (Hussonet {USA}), while second dam It’s Platonic (Trustful) was a 10-time winner, collecting victories at both Group 3 and Listed level.
Private Harry booked for first mating
Kingstar Farm have already mapped out Overriding’s first season at stud, with Yulong Stud's exciting first-season sire Private Harry earmarked as her likely mating.
Cook said the decision was based on both physical compatibility and a desire to support Yulong, who have been strong supporters of the farm in recent sales.
“She is a nice, big, strong mare, has good length, so I'm assuming she's going to have a reasonably good first foal. I'm pretty sure we may be sending her to Private Harry there for both of their first seasons.

“Nathan (Doyle) trained her and we'll send her to Yulong where the horse he used to train in Private Harry is standing.”
The proposed mating also carries a neat connection through trainer Nathan Doyle, with both Overriding and Private Harry formerly prepared by the Newcastle horseman.

Cook added that Yulong’s recent support of Kingstar Farm made the decision an easy one.
“Yulong have been great supporters of ours, they bought the Extreme Choice weanling off us here at the weanling sale, and they also bought the Extreme Choice colt off us in January for two million, so we're going to send a few mares to Devil Knight and we'll send this one to Private Harry.

“They have shown us a lot of faith in buying products off us, so we want to support them as well and Private Harry looks a nice mating for this mare.
