Lot 649 – Satin Shimmer (I Am Invincible x Satin Socks {Medaglia D’Oro {USA}}) - $55,000
Buyer: Figtree Thoroughbreds/Neil Jenkinson Pty Ltd (FBAA)
Vendor: Newgate Consignment
Figtree Thoroughbreds manager Ashleigh Webster believes the farm secured exceptional value in Satin Shimmer, a dual-winning daughter of I Am Invincible from one of Australasia’s consistently productive black-type families.
A winner over both 1000 metres and 1300 metres, Satin Shimmer is out of Satin Socks (Medaglia D'Oro {USA}), a half-sister to precocious Listed Gimcrack Stakes winner Satin Slipper (Pierro), who later produced Oaklands Stud stallion I Am Unstoppable - a Listed winner and Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 and Listed placegetter.

The family is stacked with quality female performers, including Group 1 winner Star Satire (NZ) (Volksraad {GB}), along with Group winners Zarzuela (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) and her daughter Serious Satire (More Than Ready {USA}).
An attractive mare and a performing family on the track and in the ring
“She’s a really attractive mare, good quality, and you can never have too many I Am Invincible’s, can you?” Webster said.
“The page is just full of fast black-type horses and that is what Australia loves.”

Webster admitted she was pleasantly surprised to secure the mare for $55,000, believing Satin Shimmer represented one of the stronger value buys of the sale.
“We did steal her a bit, I thought,” she said.
“I was happy to go a bit further, so I do think we got her for a great price and she is very much a good value buy.”
The pedigree has also continued to generate strong commercial results in the sales ring.

Satin Socks produced a Capitalist colt that sold to Vinery Stud for $380,000 at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, while her Stay Inside colt realised $425,000 when purchased by Mulberry Racing at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
“It’s a family that has so much upside and the mare she is out of has had some good results at the sales,” Webster said.
“She has proven herself able to leave a type within the family.
“The mare (Satin Socks) has a lovely Snitzel weanling filly to come through also, so there is real upside in the family.”
In foal to a proven sire is a great way to start
Satin Shimmer was offered in foal to Newgate Farm’s proven sire Capitalist, a mating Webster believes further strengthened the appeal of the purchase.
“She is in foal to Capitalist, and he is a good, fast, proven stallion which suits this family,” she said.

“I reckon a good proven stallion like that is a great way for her to start her breeding career.”
While plans for the mare’s next mating are yet to be locked in, Webster believes Satin Shimmer offers plenty of flexibility going forward.

“We will go home and have a think. She should be pretty easy to breed to as a type and on pedigree.
“I will sit down with Neil (Jenkinson) and he will help me make a decision. But being by ‘Vinnie’, she looks easy to breed to and she doesn’t have any Danehill really close up.
“We are very happy to have her and hopefully she proves to be a great mare for the farm.” - Ashleigh Webster
