#1. Creighton’s Vinnie filly makes half a million
United Syndications’ Peter Creighton and the ownership of stakes-winning, stakes-producing mare Loveyamadly (Bel Esprit) were thrilled to be rewarded for their decision to sell the mare’s I Am Invincible filly at Monday’s Magic Millions sale. The filly, prepared by Sledmere Stud and offered by Newhaven Park as Lot 872, had plenty of admirers during inspections, and it was Gall Bloodstock and Mitchell Bloodstock (FBAA) who landed the winning bid for $500,000.

“I’m thrilled for Peter and the other owners,” said Newhaven Park’s John Kelly. “When she got here from Sledmere, she was in great order and she has performed perfectly all week, and she has sold accordingly.”

“She’s just a class filly,” said Mitchell Bloodstock’s Bill Mitchell. “She paraded beautifully all week. She had a lovely action, a beautiful head, and obviously is by a champion stallion who we have loved and who has been so good to the Mitchells and the Gall family. So, thrilled to have her and Ray (Gall) is a great racing man, so he is over the moon as well.”
“It's a fantastic result for a group of people who just didn't expect that type of result,” Creighton said. “I never expected to achieve $500,000. It was just a great surprise.”

Loveyamadly has produced two stakes winners to date and her metropolitan-winning daughter Bella Amore (Snitzel) made $650,000 when sold as a broodmare prospect in 2024, but Creighton hadn’t anticipated the heights of Monday’s result. He was full of praise for the mare, who will feature in the next Inglis Digital online sale.
“The mare has really done the job for us,” said Creighton. “You don’t often get rewarded like this in this industry - you can work tirelessly, and a lot of it can be unrewarding, but today was a great thrill.

“Royston did a fantastic job preparing her at Sledmere and John at Newhaven did a great job presenting her this week. We had the best of the best in our corner to help achieve this.”
#2. Lope De Vega colt aids Glenbeigh in achieving top results
Glenbeigh Farm are attending the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale for the first time in 2026, and the first day of selling has been full of high points for the operation, who offered the top lot of the session with Lot 913, a Lope De Vega (Ire) colt out of a Siyouni (Fr) half-sister to G2 Moonee Valley Gold Cup winner Francesco Guardi (Ire) (Frankel {GB}).

The colt hails from the direct family of European Horse Of The Year Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB}), whose six Group 1 wins include two editions of the G1 Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe. He was knocked down to KPW Bloodstock, representing the Wanless family, for $600,000.
“He’s the sort of horse that, as soon as he walked out of the box, you think, ‘I hope he meets our criteria’,” said bloodstock agent Kevin Walls. “And once he did, he was always on our radar. Ron (Wanless) said, ‘buy him’, so we bought him.”

“It’s a great result,” said Glenbeigh’s Dennis Griffin. “He’s a beautiful horse, (he’s) been very busy all week, so we’re delighted for him. I would like to thank Ballylinch Stud in Ireland who bred him for entrusting me to sell him for them.”

The price sets a new high watermark for the farm’s 2026 sales season, and has helped propel them up the vendor tables at the close of bidding. Glenbeigh achieved 100% clearance on day one of the sale, with their five lots offered also managing the remarkable feat of securing both top vendor spots for average (two or more sold) and aggregate. With an $182,000 average - one of only three vendors who sold two or more yearlings with a six-figure average - they ended the day with a gross of $910,000.
The operation will offer five more lots on day two, including two more lots for Ballylinch Stud; Lot 1035 is a Justify (USA) filly out of Listed-winning globetrotter Angelinka (Fr) (Pedro The Great {USA}) and Lot 1075 is a Pinatubo (Ire) filly out of a three-quarter-sister to European Champion 2YO Filly Chriselliam (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}).

#3. Berzelius’s trainer nabs another Extreme Choice
There are few trainers who know as much about training the offspring of Extreme Choice as Michael Freedman, who has trained or co-trained four of the 19 stakes winners by the stallion, including two of his six Group 1 winners. The fourth of that number is Berzelius, who broke through into black-type on Saturday with a scintillating victory in the G2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes.
It certainly makes sense as a result to see him signing the docket for the first of the four Extreme Choice yearlings to be offered at this year’s National sale late on Monday afternoon, in partnership with Andrew Williams Bloodstock (FBAA).

Lot 1002, a filly offered by Newgate Farm, was knocked down to the tune of $580,000. She is the third foal of Group 3-winning, Group 1-performed Volks Lightning (NZ) (Volksraad {GB}), a half-sister to G2 Wellington Guineas placegetter New Millennium (NZ) (Charm Spirit {Ire}). Her first foal Volkano (Too Darn Hot {GB}) was a winner as a 2-year-old.
“These Extreme Choices are going gangbusters," said Freedman, who had a hand in steering the racing careers of Stay Inside and Tiger Of Malay. "The stallion couldn't be going any better."
Freedman also currently trains high class 3-year-old Apocalyptic, who added to her sire’s Group 1 haul in October when winning the G1 Flight Stakes.
“On the back of having another (Group 2) winner with him (Extreme Choice) on Saturday, I thought it would be worth coming up and having a look at this filly (Lot 1002).” - Michael Freedman
“On the back of having another (Group 2) winner with him on Saturday, I thought it would be worth coming up and having a look at this filly,” Freedman said. “When I saw her this morning, I thought she was a gorgeous type. When you got her out of the box, she didn't look like a December foal - there was plenty of strength.”
Freedman is happy to be patient; the aforementioned Apocalyptic debuted as a 2-year-old, but was then not seen again until last spring, where she strung together three Group wins in a row in her first three starts as a 3-year-old.

A trio of Extreme Choice yearlings will be offered on the second day of the National sale, all also consigned by Newgate Farm.
#4. International buyers coming in hot
While the local buyers were certainly active on the first day of the Magic Millions National yearling sale, so too was the international crowd, with buyers from Hong Kong recording the third biggest aggregate spend and buyers from China averaging the second highest average prices at the sale.
John Foote Bloodstock (FBAA) was the busiest on behalf of Hong Kong clients, securing four lots, but Philip Yu spent the most of the cohort on a single lot, securing a son of Toronado (Ire) for $180,000 from Infinity Thoroughbreds. Lot 908 combines some of the jurisdiction’s favoured blood, being out of Sweynesse mare Only Words (NZ), whose five wins include the G2 The Roses and the Listed Wanganui Guineas.
“It was a really good result,” said Infinity Thoroughbreds’ Mark Farmer. “We bought the horse here last year (at the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale) specifically for this sale.”
The Infinity Thoroughbreds team purchased the colt for $80,000 from Musk Creek Farm’s draft at last year’s weanling sales.
“Magics have done a good job getting plenty of buyers here, I feel it’s a really good sale to bring a trade colt to. We brought him here thinking we would get $120-$150,000, so we are happy with the result.”

Toronado is currently fourth in the sires rankings for Hong Kong, with over HK$50 million ($8.88 million) in progeny earnings this season and 13 winners, the latter figure only bettered by Deep Field and Capitalist. His greatest triumph in the jurisdiction came earlier this year when Stormy Grove took out the Listed Hong Kong Classic Cup, before running a gallant third in the Listed Hong Kong Derby.
China’s Linsheng Zhang was responsible for all eight purchases representing the country. He purchased four of the sale’s 21 six-figure lots, including securing a Harry Angel (Ire) colt (Lot 911) for $150,000 and a Star Turn colt (Lot 923) for $145,000.

#5. Macedon Lodge find it Far Too Easy to purchase Zoustar colt
John Symons and Sheila Laxon made a triumphant return to Macedon Lodge in February of this year, and they have been busy restocking on the 2026 yearling sales circuit, utilising the Macedon Lodge banner on sales dockets for the first time since 2003. On the first day of the National sale, they struck twice for offspring of in-form sires Capitalist and Zoustar.
Lot 897: Zoustar x Mnemonic colt | Image courtesy of Magic Millions
Lot 897, a son of the latter, caught their eye enough for the partnership to go to $380,000 to secure him from Baramul Stud’s draft. The colt is the eighth foal of Mnemonic (Hussonet), making him a half-brother to Singapore Champion 4YO Hard Too Think (All Too Hard) and Kosciuszko king Far Too Easy (All Too Hard). The exploits of both runners evidently earned their dam a ticket into a stallion who could really upgrade her.
“I’ve bought a lot of horses from Gerry over the years,” Symons said. “Gerry’s great for the industry.
“To buy a horse like this for this price, we really think he has been underpriced. If he had been in the January sale, who knows. He might have made $700,000, he might have made a million. He’s a cracking colt.”
“If he (Lot 897) had been in the January sale, who knows... he might have made a million.” - John Symons
The horse had been a standout in the Macedon Lodge team’s shortlist from the beginning, and Symons believes he has the qualities to repay them on the track.
“If this horse can come out and be a stakes horse, it’s well and truly worth it,” he said. “It’s lovely to get horses of this quality into the stable. Everyone wants these horses, so being able to secure this one, I feel we have done a very good job.”

The colt was the only Zoustar to sell on day one, with two still available after passing in and three more to be offered on Tuesday.
The team also snapped up Lot 929 from the draft of Blue Gum Farm shortly afterwards; the daughter of Capitalist is out of a half-sister to Group-performed Heman (I Am Invincible) and R. Listed Inglis Nursery placegetter Calgary Stampede (Snitzel) - both of whom placed in the Listed Oxlade Stakes - from the family of Kaphero.
Day one goes gangbusters
The curtain has fallen on the first day of the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale, with metrics lifting across the board.
“It was a really strong market here today,” Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said.
“It's great to see such a diverse buying bench with good local and interstate participation which has been complemented by the international market - Hong Kong, Philippines, China, New Zealand and others.
“Whether it was a colt or a filly of quality that entered the ring, there was good participation and great competition.”

The highlights are a gross more than $1.5 million above the same point in time in 2025 and a clearance rate that has improved six points.
“Looking at the figures from previous years, it's hard not to be pleased with the increases across the board in today's sale.” - Barry Bowditch
“Looking at the figures from previous years, it's hard not to be pleased with the increases across the board in today's sale,” Bowditch said. “Vendors are very willing to meet the market - those who got their horses on the market received good competition and it was a solid and genuine day in the sales ring.”
Bidding on day two will commence at 11am.
“There's plenty to look forward to tomorrow,” said Bowditch. “It will bring down the curtain on what's been a massive couple of weeks on the Gold Coast.”
