Lot 283 – Weanling filly (Super Seth x Zecora (NZ) {Power {GB}) - $62,500
Buyer: Pinhook Bloodstock International (FBAA)
Vendor: Phoenix Broodmare Farm
There were only two offspring of Super Seth in the catalogue at the 2026 Inglis Great Southern Sale, and Dave Mee’s Pinhook Bloodstock International (FBAA) waited for the sale’s midpoint to pounce on Lot 283, a filly from the fifth crop of the Coolmore Stud transplant.
Offered by Phoenix Broodmare Farm, the filly was knocked down for $62,500 - approximately half of her sire’s new service fee when he stands his first Australian season this spring.
All about the price point
For Mee, the overarching standout feature on the page had to be the filly’s sire. Standing for NZ$45,000 (plus GST) in the year of the filly’s conception before jumping to NZ$75,000 (plus GST) in 2025, Super Seth booked his ticket across the Tasman earlier this year in a deal reported to be worth $70 million.
He will stand his first season at Coolmore Stud in Jerry’s Plans for a fee of $137,500 (inc GST) this spring.

Securing a daughter of the stallion, who has produced four Group 1 winners amongst his 10 stakes winners to date, for such a price was a no-brainer for Mee.
“It's just all about price point,” he said. “She’s by a very, very hot commercial stallion, and she was just within the price range that I felt was good value for her.”

Super Seth’s yearlings averaged $161,481 in 2026 and he recorded a new personal record price when a filly sold for $950,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. His top-priced colt of the year sold at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale for NZ$675,000.
Being a first foal, Mee noted the filly’s price was probably limited by her size and bone, but he could envisage her blossoming into a yearling that is worth a lot more.
“She’s a bit slight, but she isn’t typical of the Super Seths,” he said. “She is a bit more elegant and athletic. The typical Super Seths are big, strong, robust horses, and she is much more light on her feet and a great mover. There is a lot of improvement to come with her. She is a later foal being born in late October, but I believe physically she will go the right way.”

It helps too to buy from a trusted source.
“I know the farm that she came off of well,” Mee said. “They are very good people there. They have given her that extra time to grow, so hopefully she continues in the same manner.”
Seeing the other side
The pedigree also offered plenty of appeal for the filly’s future purchasers as well. Lot 283 is the first foal out of G3 J Swap Sprint Handicap victress Zecora (NZ) (Power {GB}), who recorded four wins and four second placings out to 1400 metres when in the care of Robyn and Russell Rogers.
Zecora is out of C’Est La Vie (NZ) (Anabaa {USA}), a full sister to G1 Railway Handicap winner Imananabaa and Group-performed Ms Bowie, who was also fourth in the G1 Flight Stakes.

The mares in the family have proven over and over again their ability to pass on their speed; Ms Bowie has produced Group performer Lakers Forest (Magic Albert), while another half-sister Young American (Charmwood Forest {Ire}) is the grandam of G3 Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes placegetter Our Absolute (NZ) (Niagara).
“Putting myself in the shoes of a yearling buyer, personally I like to buy yearlings out of a fast, young mare, and I know others do as well,” said Mee. “When you have got a stallion making headlines like Super Seth, and the foal is out of a speed mare that looks like this, I am absolutely stoked to secure a foal like her. There are a lot of Anabaa qualities to her, which is very appealing.

The plan is for the filly to head to a sale that will give her the appropriate time to mature and will have a buying bench that will appreciate her athleticism.
“She will likely be re-traded at either the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale or the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. Hopefully we can do well with her for my partners and I.”
