Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two exciting 2-year-olds by Snitzel and Profiteer chase maiden success on debut at Geelong and Rockhampton respectively.

Ladbrokes Geelong, Race 2, 1.30pm AEST, The Man Walk Geelong 2YO Maiden Plate, $42,500, 1125m

Fast Freddie, 2-year-old colt (Snitzel x Spanish Reef {Lope De Vega {Ire}})

The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Fast Freddie (Snitzel) makes his debut at Geelong on Friday afternoon in the Rosemont Stud colours. He has shown some good talent at the jump-outs, including winning his last two at Mornington and Caulfield.

Fast Freddie is the second foal out of the classy Spanish Reef (Lope De Vega {Ire}), she was a winner at Group 2 level and Group 3 level three times on the track as well as being placed in the G1 Empire Rose Stakes.

This is also the family of the American Group 3-winner and G1 Irish One Thousand Guineas placegetter Storm Dream (Ire) (Catrail {USA}).

Spanish Reef, in recent times, has left a Russian Revolution yearling filly that the Lucky Down Under Syndicate, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott and Kestrel Thoroughbreds purchased for $240,000 at this year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, a Dundeel (NZ) weanling filly and was served by Henry Longfellow (Ire) last October.

Fast Freddie was withdrawn from the 2025 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Rockhampton, Race 2, 11.45am AEST, TAB QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap, $23,000, 1100m

Peter Profit, 2-year-old gelding (Profiteer x So Cait {Smart Missile})

The Jay Bellamy-trained Peter Profit (Profiteer) looks very hard to beat on debut at Rockhampton on Friday. The exciting 2-year-old has won all three of his trials at the Gold Coast and at Beaudesert.

Peter Profit is out of the unraced Smart Missile mare So Cait. She is well-related being a half-sister to the Listed winner and five-time winning juvenile Shining Smile (Spirit Of Boom). This is also the extended family of the Group 1 winners and stallions Starspangledbanner, Elvstroem and Haradasun.

So Cait, in recent times, has produced a Zousain yearling colt, a Tiger Of Malay weanling filly and was served by the late Spirit Of Boom last September.

Peter Profit was purchased by J Bellamy for $28,000 from the Robyn Wise draft at the 2025 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Looking Back:

Internal Affairs (Home Affairs) - Was scratched from Gosford, he will keep for another day.

Ona Bivvy (Bivouac) - Disappointed running eighth on debut at Moe.
