Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Three very well-bred types by Extreme Choice, Snitzel and Farnan chase maiden success at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
Warwick Farm, Race 2, 1.25pm AEST, Asahi Super Dry 2YO C&G Handicap, $60,000, 1100m
Omolong, 2-year-old colt (Extreme Choice x Samarmeteors {Northern Meteor})
The Chris Waller-trained and Yulong-raced 2-year-old Omolong (Extreme Choice) makes his debut at Warwick Farm on Wednesday on the back of some good trial form. Which included a nice win at Rosehill on June 19 over 900 metres when defeating Bumblebeel (NZ) (Savabeel) narrowly but impressively.
Omolong was a very strong pedigree, being out of the 2-year-old winner Samarmeteors (Northern Meteor), who has left four winners at stud, including the Group 2 and Group 3-winner and stallion Prost.

Samarmeteors is also a half-sister to Samaready (More Than Ready), who was a dual Group 1-winner and is also the dam of the G1 Golden Slipper winner and exciting young sire Shinzo.
Omolong was purchased for $850,000 by Yu Long Investments (Australia) Pty Ltd from the Baramul Stud draft at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale
Warwick Farm, Race 2, 1.25pm AEST, Asahi Super Dry 2YO C&G Handicap, $60,000, 1100m
Spain, 2-year-old colt (Snitzel x Lagertha (Chi) {Scat Daddy {USA}})
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained 2-year-old colt Spain (Snitzel) makes his debut at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. The well-bred colt wears the famous China Horse Club colours and has looked sharp at the trials in preparation for his debut.
Spain is out of the Group 1-winning mare Lagertha (Chi) (Scat Daddy {USA}), who won at the elite level in Chile and who also was Group 3-placed in America. It is a very strong extended South American family that has plenty of black type in both Chile and America.

Spain was purchased for $750,000 by China Horse Club, Newgate Bloodstock and Partners from the Newgate farm draft at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Lagertha, in recent times, has produced an Extreme Choice weanling colt and unfortunately missed to Extreme Choice last spring.
Warwick Farm, Race 3, 2pm AEST, Drinkwise Maiden Plate, $100,000, 1100m
Farfetched, 3-year-old filly (Farnan x More Than Real (USA) {More Than Ready {USA}})
The well-bred Farfetched (Farnan) chases maiden success at start number four at Warwick Farm on Wednesday for trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.
She has run two placings in her career so far on the Kensington and at Warwick Farm, and looks very well-placed resuming in this race off two trial wins at Randwick in the last month or so to prepare.
Farfetched has a beautiful pedigree, her dam More Than Real (USA) (More Than Ready {USA}) was a Group 2 and Group 3 winner in America, and ended up being a very good broodmare leaving six winners including the Listed winner Miss Debutante (Fastnet Rock).

The family has gone from strength to strength, as Miss Debutante has left a legacy leaving the G1 Golden Slipper winner Lady Camelot (Written Tycoon), the four-time Group 3 winner Queen Of The Ball (I Am Invincible) and the G3 Gimcrack Stakes winner Platinum Jubilee (Zoustar).
More Than Real, in recent times has produced a Farnan yearling filly, a Zoustar weanling colt, and was served by Captivant last spring.
Farfetched was purchased by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, and Kestrel Thoroughbreds for $500,000 from the Kia Ora Stud draft at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Looking Back:
State Secret (Russian Revolution) - Ran an honest enough fourth at Hawkesbury after setting the pace.
Internal Affairs (Home Affairs) - Always looked well-placed at Hawkesbury with his form form last preparation and he delivered in style by just over half a length.
