Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Promising runners by Maurice (Jpn) and Street Boss (USA) are chasing maiden success at Bendigo on Sunday.

Bendigo, Race 1, 11.20am AEST, Budget Bendigo Maiden Plate, $55,000, 1600m

Jenni Poppins, 3-year-old filly (Maurice (Jpn) x Stelladi Natale (USA) {Tapit {USA}})

The Lloyd Kennewell-trained Jenni Poppins (Maurice {Jpn}) chases deserved maiden success at Bendigo on Sunday. The consistent filly has placed in three of her four starts, including a sound second behind the promising Tisseyre (Maurice {Jpn}) at Sale at her last start.

Jenni Poppins is out of the unraced Tapit (USA) mare Stelladi Natale, who has a pedigree full of strong American stallion influences such as Dixie Union (USA), Broad Brush (USA), A.P. Indy (USA) and Unbridled (USA).

Deeper down in the pedigree is the G1 Japanese February Stakes winner and sire Testa Matta (USA).

Stelladi Natale, in recent times has produced a 2-year-old filly named Nova Eclipse (Admire Mars {Jpn}), a yearling filly by Nicconi, and was served by Tagaloa last November.

Jenni Poppins was purchased for $60,000 by Cape Schank Stud from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Panchenko, 2-year-old filly (Street Boss (USA) x Oscietra {Exceed And Excel})

The beautifully-bred 2-year-old filly Panchenko (Street Boss {USA}) makes her debut at Bendigo on Sunday for Team Hawkes. The sharply-bred filly looked talented winning her last jump-out at Flemington over 800 metres on June 19.

Panchenko is the fourth foal out of the dual-winning Exceed And Excel mare Oscietra. Who is out of the Champion unbeaten mare Black Caviar (Bel Esprit).

As well as having the Champion mare as her second dam, other illustrious members of the family include the Group 1-winners All Too Hard, Nepotism (Brutal {NZ}), Ole Kirk, and the Group 3-winner Gimmie Par (Not A Single Doubt).

Oscietra, in recent times has left an Anamoe yearling colt and was served last September by Private Life.

Marwooba (Wootton Bassett {GB}) - Scored impressively at Listed-level at Flemington under a classy ride by Craig Williams.
